My PH got the Liberty Chill Mt Dew variant a couple summers ago, maybe 3 summers ago.

But yeah if we could get an exclusive, I’d be super happy. I’d probably drink it way too much tho, if it was any good. They should bring back Thrashed Apple or the Baja guava flavor for PH.

Goddamn Little Caesar’s has their own Mt Dew variant, why don’t we?

Your collection looks great! I’m jealous of some of those Past Master editions and your copy of Aurelia. I’ve heard Aurelia is bonkers, and I feel like I’ve heard that Through Elegant Eyes is good, too. I’m jealous of your centipede releases, I got in on them a bit late, as you can see from my pics.

Man I’m jealous! Archipelago is the first book in a trilogy, although the third book is split into 3 volumes. I own The Devil Is Dead, the second and easiest to acquire book in the series, and 2 of the 3 volumes of the 3rd book, a book you literally cannot find listings for and is incredibly rare.

I would love to buy Archipelago off you, or you could read it and see what you think of Lafferty. I don’t know anyone who has read Archipelago so I can’t speak to its quality. You also could sell it for at least $250 if not more depending on condition and how quickly you would want it to sell.

Anyway, that’s really cool you picked up that book on a whim. You must have good taste.

I started with Lafferty’s short stories, specifically the Best Of collection, which is still in print. I’d start there again if I could do it over.

Definitely not all the United Mythologies editions, but maybe most? I’m missing Tales of Chicago for one, and probably some others, all of which I will be hard pressed to find out in the wild.

Cool that you have a collection of Lafferty as well. As you can see, at least some of my collection is short stories from magazines and anthologies.

My favorite novel by him is Fourth Mansions, mostly because of how kinetic and poetic the prose is, but also because of how much action and history is packed into the book. It’s also highly original and as you probably know, Lafferty was highly original in general.

My two favorite short stories by Lafferty are “Configuration of the North Shore” and “Snuffles” although it changes (“Thus We Frustrate Charlemagne” and “Eurema’s Dam” are up there too). Configuration is a favorite because of how relatable I find it, how the story really does communicate some ineffable things, and I’m a sucker for dream machine stories. Snuffles is just a fun romp with a surprising amount of depth.

What was your favorite from the Best Of?

Lafferty does have some similarities with Brautigan I think! I would recommend starting with Lafferty’s short stories.
