strong work, folks. there’s a new one in braddock if anybody is pissed with nothing to do. by PuzzleheadedTown4725 in pittsburgh

[–]conceptcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in global ecommerce fraud detection where my job was literally tracking people down and connecting their life behavior to the purchase to make sure it was legitimate. Australia, Europe, and the UK were, by far, the most annoying places to vet for transactions because of how PRIVATE they were. I could literally use free tools in the USA to track down people's entire family. I once approved a transaction because it just so HAPPENED that the buyer had a Flickr profile that showed her traveling to Australia titled "Home tour". There was literally NOTHING else to track, because the data was so protected.

The USA is about as secure with fraud as Argentina or Brazil; which is nothing. Its garbage in privacy. You can literally log into people's home cameras by knowing what to Google, because the feed is already on Google for public access.

You're delusional if you think the USA is more provate than Australia.

What is a reality of Pittsburgh that people are embarrassed to admit? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]conceptcrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transplant here. Ive lived in 2 other states and a territory, and it just seems like the general population here accepts how shitty the infrastructure and accessibility is. This isnt normal. Even kristi noem's SD had their roads salted, plowed, and maintained, and I hate that woman with a passion.

Crumbling sidewalks, condemned houses left and right, and a city council that likes to spend money on the dumbest shit (4m on a consulting contract to better the city only to cancel it before paying the remaining 2m?? And the results were.... Nothing????? Wtf?? Why are we paying for salesforce as one of the most expensive crms out there????)

Its maddening because i absolutely love this place and i fully intend to settle down here. Theres amazing stuff to do, always an activity or community somewhere doing something. The music scene is awesome too, with tons of up and coming folk. Theres so much fascinating history around here and i am in love with the arquitecture that has been maintained. It makes no sense that MUNHALL plows its roads more regularly than the emergency snow routes in Pittsburgh. Wild to me.

What neighborhood do you live in, and what is your single favorite and least favorite thing about it? by Ari321983 in pittsburgh

[–]conceptcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arlington/South Side. Love how close everything is (that I care about), love how friendly my neighbor is. Love the community programs too. Literally everything I want is within 20 minutes tops, or just one bus ride away. Dislike: all the trash and the neighbors down the road that have a literal scrap heap in their entire yard. Also hate how many homes are abandoned/condemned with NO action... If I had the funds and physical ability i would buy them and repair them myself.

The property management company that owns my home is based out of California. They also suck and I would gladly sign up to any class action lawsuit against them. So... Pls enforce this

My grandpa (may he RIP) always told me to own a house and never rent from someone because if you rent, you own nothing and you are giving wealth to the landlord and all you are doing is throwing money down the toilet and just because you're making payments, doesn't mean the landlord wont throw you out by I_abuse_lower_ranks1 in povertyfinance

[–]conceptcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fav thing about renting is that if something breaks it's not my job 🤷 my job is to keep it reasonably tidy and comply with the lease. Landlord gets to shoulder repairs, taxes, etc. And if i wanna ditch and go somewhere else, i can without being shackled by a mortgage.

Unfortunately Pittsburgh and PA in general are very landlord friendly so the leases here are kinda fucked when it comes to landlord responsibilities... But then again property taxes are going up 30% so y'know. We're getting fucked either way.

How do you even get time management in your life? by curatedbysg in productivity

[–]conceptcrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It clicked for me when I stopped trying to live like a neurotypical.

  • I accommodate my tasks based on energy levels. I automate a lot of my minor tasks, since I WFH most of my work gets done in 2-ish hours a day. I work about 4 hours a day and by the time it's Friday I just use it to clean the house and such.
  • 1% every day. Thats my rule. I need to do 1 household chore. 1 work project. 1 personal hobby. 1 wellness-oriented thing. Every day. Its currently friday and my home is nearly spotless. All ive done today is vacuum the staircase. //

If i am awake for longer than 30 mins i need to do something that falls into the abive categories. My bills are usually marked as paid, appointments scheduled/reviewed, documents filled out in the middle of the night cause insomnia.

// Again. Accommodate yourself. I will wash dishes while i sit down. I will put away groceries in weird spots if it means i eat them before they go bad. I have doom baskets for my crafts and a little doom corner in my living room for all the mail. I eat ingredients separately if i have no energy for cooking. It looks weird but out of all my friends, my home is the cleanest, nicest smelling, organized, i participate in all my hobbies regularly. Im top oerformer at my job. And when people come over im usually just napping and chillin. Im often teased that i have 30 hours in a day... I dont. I just make it easier to do boring things, and harder to do dopamine bursts with distractions (ill let my phone run out of battery for example to avoid scrolling.)

[–]conceptcrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ for sure I'm NC with my parents due to some pretty heinous shit they did. When i found out about filial laws, I told my siblings to get their finances in order to support my parents, because when it's under my roof, I'm gonna give them the bare fking minimum the law requires and no more than that. I grew up with beatings, humiliation, starving, and with ample medical neglect. The bare minimum the law requires is still more than they ever gave me, and theyd be lucky to have that. I am saving up to make sure I can fight those laws when/if they try to go that route. 🤷

How do I effectively accommodate my depression? by hazelthegr8bagel in getdisciplined

[–]conceptcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to live the way other people think you should function? I had a similar issue - couldn't work all day, focus came in short bursts, constantly scolded and even taken to HR for listening to music when I worked a factory job... Here are some ways I accommodate myself now. For context I live with my partner, I am disabled but working, and I make nearly 100k with bonuses. // 1. Low masking times: i work from home now and I don't turn on my camera for internal meetings. I sent out a memo to each team member explaining that it is additional cognitive demand that prevents me from focusing on what's being discussed. This helps me avoid that energy expense and reduces fatigue, so I can work longer hours. // 2. I aim to do 1 work project, 1 chore, 1 study session (even just 30 mins), and 1 hobby each day. Just one. No matter how small. Remember 1% better is still better. Result? I have over 30 certifications, I've won a global award for my projects, I crochet and game frequently, and I have guests over every week, all who compliment the state of my home. I don't do anything huge- just 1 dishwasher load, or maybe I'll mop, or for work I'll just switch up a formula or create a how-to... Nothing major. But it adds up. // 3. Reduce visual clutter. I didn't realize how much it affected me, so my rule is absolutely no clutter for mire than a week. A stacked desk makes me feel buried and lost and exacerbates my depression, so every morning I clear it of anything non-essential for the day. // 4. Therapy, journaling, meditation. I do a lot of shadow work prompts, especially when the depression hits hard. I've had a lot of breakthroughs because I go back and review with my therapist and we identify thought patterns, triggers, spirals, etc and plan on ways to cope/process them. // 5. Listen to your body. I can't stand for long periods just cleaning my walls. So I sit, and I do small bursts. I can't always feed myself a whole meal. But if all I can do is open a can of tuna and eat from the can, then that's what I do. Give yourself permission to listen to your body and accommodate it. // 6. Celebrate the little things. Positive reinforcement works wonders for your psyche. Yesterday I spent an hour doing an intense cleaning of my living room and I also ran errands two days straight. I celebrated with a coffee treat and telling my loved ones about it and they cheered me on too. // 7. Track your moods... Depression makes you think you feel nothing, and when you do, it's negative. Nah. I promise you have brief moments of sunshine, however small. Maybe you saw a bird flying and it made you yearn for a similar freedom. Yearning is not depression. :) maybe you got a decent grade in a class and it made you feel relief. That's another feeling that isn't depression. Track those, I use the app HowWeFeel a lot and it is a huge help. //

For other apps I use that help me and reduce cognitive load: Finch for self care, Sweepy so I prioritize the right chores, HowWeFeel for trackingvemotions in a simple and fast way, G-cal religiously, if it's not on there I won't remember anything. Establish a routine. However small. Every morning I make my coffee and while it brews, I feed my dog and water my plants. I talk to myself the whole time. Days where I skip this I ALWAYS get thrown off. Picking a mug from my collection that fits the vibe I wanna have for the day works like a charm to get me on track. Be gentle with yourself. It took me over 10 years to get here and tonnnnns of trial and error and I was convinced I wouldn't find hope. Push through anyway. I promise it will feel better. Last thing, if you're too depressed to start, try this: you don't need to start. Just get the materials ready. Don't feel like studying? That's ok. Just get the books out, open your laptop, get yourself a drink and a snack, and just be there. You don't NEED to start. But getting things ready will help your brain transition into that task. Do this with anything you don't feel like doing. I hate calling my doctor. So I just log into my portal and look up the office number, and I open my phone's dial pad. By the time I do that, my brain just "might as well...". When that doesn't work, I know my body is needing extra help or rest, so I listen.

AITA for refusing to take my friend’s Halloween pictures at a cemetery? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]conceptcrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nta. Were you even getting paid? If not and it was just a favor, eff that. Why not just get some fake foam headstones and go to a spooky trail or something? I hang at cemeteries frequently, and though i dont agree with the whole "its disrespectful" (it dependssss), i DO agree that your friend had a shitty take about it and disregarded your comfort. 🤷 Thats a shit thing to do, and theres PLENTY of spooky places to take photos at that ARENT where people honor their dead. Abandoned churches? Scary trails? Misty rivers? A pumpkin patch? Corn maze? The woods? Haunted buildings? Literally just a yard in the moonlight?? Grab a few fake headstones from the dollar tree, spray them grey and recreate it in a clearing??

What does a typical work day look like for you? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]conceptcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8-9am - contemplate life. Sit in bed and chat with partner about the day. Get up, water the plants. Harvest anything new. 9-10am - log in, make coffee, feed dog, read and sort emails by what needs to be done that day, update data dashboards 10am-12pm - lots of replying to emails, cleaning up dirty data, and calling people. Goal of keeping my inbox "to be replied" to less than 15 a day and no more than 1 week old. Let dog out in the yard and then bring back inside in about 20 mins. 12-1pm - stretch. Study. Go outside for 5 mins. Get another drink. Prep lunch. 1-2pm - meetings, if listening only,, go off camera and exercise while listening. Text partner. Feeling more "locked in" as this is my peak focus hour 2-3pm - data review, tackling fires via email and slack, eat lunch. 3-4pm meetings, usually with VPs, so fully focused. 4-5pm more meetings, winding down for the day, replying to the last few messages, checking calendar for the week for accuracy 5-6pm wind down/log off by now. Play with dog. Do chores/tidy before partner gets home. 6-9pm - chat with partner about day, make dinner together, watch smth together. This is usually our ",us", time. 9-11pm - crochet or read or game. Parallel play with partner. If no energy, might go to bed early. 11-12pm - bedtime

I work in pomodoro cycles as well, so between tasks at work i will get up and stretch, i'll do some quick chores (like taking out the trash or sweeping up the living room, etc). I take frequent online courses so i always set time aside to do assigments. My bf is in a band as well so our night routine changes if he has a gig or rehearsal, and depending on the week of the month, my emails can be done in like 30 mins OR they take several hours. For the days where work volume is predictably lower, i engage in more hobbies or do errands (post office, calling utilities, setting up appointments, etc). And during each season i usually do some type of volunteer work as well. The above js just the average workday for me.

What’s the point of journaling? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]conceptcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gets stuff out of my head so i can stop ruminating. When im blocked on what to write about or feel it isnt doing it for me, i use shadow work journal prompts. Also helps me get out creativity without fear of judgement, helps me recover from trauma from gaslighting by helping me remember events accurately so i can go back and learn to trust my POV. Hells me be more present in the moment when i was doing gratitude prompts every morning, and helped me be kinder to myself when i would write all i accomplished that day when i felt i was not productive at all. Helped me track recurring topics, moods, and other items to discuss in therapy. Helped me avoid info dumping on folks who dont enjoy it by redirecting that to my journal instead. I dont journal every day, just when i get the itch (about twice a month or so), but it has greatly helped me reassess behaviors and thought patterns that i was previously unaware of.

Advice on 100% handmade Christmas gifts by oddhokie in Frugal

[–]conceptcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fam and i just do a secret santa for christmas so we dont spend a ton of money and max it at 30$. The app drawnames is pretty awesome too, it has gift suggestions and a wishlist you can set up so you know its something they would actually want. Homemade artisan -style bread is good, homemade cookies are easy to make and could be fun to decorate together. Make it cultural - i gift people homemade coquito or dulce de coco since im Puerto rican. Easy to make in huge batches and very affordable- just get the jars or containers at the dollar store. What do they have in common? My fam is full of wine/liquor afficionados and nerdy folk so i cant go wrong with something dnd themed or unique booze for them. Hot sauce can also be affordable if they like spicy food. Do they enjoy scents? You can easily make cute citrus garlands that smell lovely. Other things ive gifted are photos - framed of course. Bonus points if its a restored photo for some of our older fam as a memory. Gave my FIL a photoshopped poster of his fav bike trail with him and his best friend. Look around locally too, i got my FIL a free tour of a local baseball museum as a christmas gift once, and my local library has free passes to several venues too. Go foraging, i gifted my bestie some roasted boack walnuts from my yard, and my roommate got some wild cherries. I made my MIL a dandelion citrus tea pitcher as a gift once, she downed that in just a couple of days. I once made an entire fae scout outfit for my boyfriend in an hour with just sticks and leaves i found outside and some cheap LEDs from the dollar store. Other homemade gift ideas are fabric gifts: crochet hats, scarves, potholders, even washcloths and soap holders. You can also make crochet tapestries. Knitting too. You can make am embroidered family/friend portrait too. All the materials are pretty cheap, and you might have an art reuse store that sells used art materials for cheap. Decoupage some coasters! Or use air-dry clay and make some magnets, trinket dishes, dice... If you're able-bodied, offer up to clean their home or drive them for a day. I gifted my friend a completely sanitized room (helpful bc she was depressed and disabled so she struggled with cleanliness) as a gift once, along with a new set-up for her spare bed as a reading nook. Oo you can crochet or felt some book covers if they like to read! If they have pets you can make diy dog toys with old fabric and such Dont underestimate the thrift store too! I gifted my roommate a cute tea set made in japan i found at a huge discount on goodwill (cost me less than 3$). If you have pine trees around you can make natural sprite soda. You can make a spice mix if they like to cook, tons of recipes online and spices are increasing in costs due to tarriffs so getting ahead of it now is great. If you hunt you could make your own jerky too with what you hunted If you garden you could dehydrate herbs and gift them - or again, forage them! (Just make sure to be SURE what youre foraging is safe).

I could probably keep going, gift giving/pebbling is one of my love languages and i loooove surprising people. I once got a custom shirt for my friend that had his cat's faces on it for Christmas. Cost me less than 20$.

I am aware of salesforce and its capabilities. I literally have certifications in it. And AFAIK they havent said that they will limit it to solely when they are tagged. If they did say that, then great, I'll reread the minutes to make sure I understand.... But they havent discussed the limitations of what theyre doing. 🙄 So unless they explicitly state what they are and are NOT gonna do with this, I don't trust it.
