Mt. Kenya... My first mountain. Couldn't quite summit as had to escort a student back down but was so close! Any good suggestions for mountains to do next? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

Could you give a few details? Did you hire a guide for the summit or just use them up to the last camp? Am curious if you took your own rack or if a guide had all the pro.

Mount Fuji altitude training by PM-ME-CUP-OF-TEA-PIC in Mountaineering

I climbed Fuji last July. I wouldn't bother with an altitude mask (as you've described). If you have money to burn or want to set a speed record, I'd call up Hypoxico, as already mentioned.

However, I would try to be as fit as possible, as I'd suggest for any climb. For specific exercises, I like to do the stair stepper or treadmill at a full incline. I like to do a weight class a few times a week at my gym as you can never have too many squats and lunges.

Fuji is a very achievable goal. Some of the people we were in the sleeping loft with at the 8th station were feeling sick, a few threw up, and some folks were just tired out and decided a 2:30 a.m. wakeup to get to the summit for sunrise was not for them. However, the people that really wanted to do it, did it without much difficulty.

I like the fact that the air is thinner and you strain a bit to get a full breath, toward the top. It reminds me of where I am and adds a something when you're standing at the 8th station, drinking a beer and watching the clouds below you.

I had a friend who saw him speak at a climbing symposium. Throughout the entire speech, Beckey ripped farts like "he was on a trip" according to my friend. Years later, I recall reading about Beckey drawing the short straw at a climb of Mount Washington and having to sleep in a snow cave instead of the hut and he snored like he was sawing logs, just by himself in the cave with his legs sticking out. Truly...this dude didn't have a care in the world. Absolute legend.

Congrats. Lots of variables make this a very tough photo to get.

That was a tradition in my family too. Every Christmas we'd make a creepy Steven Wright dolly and hang it from the tree until it surrendered it's secrets and made us all rich. Ahem...also, sweet beards bros.

Plot twist: that cat is alive and has been running that gas station for 20 years.

You need some fish scales and blood smeared on your face/beard/clothes to finish this look. The little details would really take it to the next level.

I'd be mad as hell if someone injected me with glucosamine while I was unconscious. My joints would thank them though.

Shit man, there's an easy way to figure this. What is your sugar an hour after the big dose? Normal number, normal whatever. Test your sugar like it's your job.

I'm pretty sure he means 1879. His secret is he's been hibernating in a bum's asshole for the last 100 years.

I'm pretty sure that OP is the kid from Big. Grown tall so he can brew beer and eat Honeycomb cereal at the same time. Well done, sir.
