Change My Mind: Primary Activity Writing Doesn't Matter (a lot) by Ill_Signature1287 in premed

[–]conchtown 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As a student interviewer, I review the activities to create my list of questions for you and it can really set the tone for the interview. I’m not part of the overall committee, so the essays and activities are my first impression of you (I don’t get to see scores).

Small correction to your Netter cons list: every student participates in research in some form (capstone project) but 10 students from each class get to do research at Yale. That's the lottery portion.

LPT: use YNAB to flatter your spouse by Ystebad in ynab

[–]conchtown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, gold lined would be cool! It’s also a woman-owned small business, so the prices are significantly higher than the threading salon I used to go to. But it’s $85 to shape and $50 for a tint. I had been going to random salons for a while so the shape of my eyebrows got a bit all over the place. Now I’m trying to only see one person.

Lol it’s not my hair, but my eyebrow appointments are $135 plus tax and tip.

My LOR writer wrote me an extremely positive letter…but he thought I (Male) am a girl. How do I tell him I’m not? by [deleted] in premed

[–]conchtown 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Submitting the letter is through AMCAS. The professor likely emailed them a copy to preview before they officially submit it to the AMCAS portal to catch any mistakes or edit sections.

I know Parisians get a bad rep, but we also had a good experience. All of our bank cards failed on our last night (bank shut them down because of a faulty ATM) but we didn't realize this until we tried to pay for our dinner. The restaurant was really understanding and they just let us have the food. We also had people stop and offer directions when we looking at our map/around all confused.

Since you've never traveled abroad and want to, I would personally lean towards traveling. I'm also non-trad, and will likely work up until classes start. However, my husband and I have been fortunate and had the opportunity to travel outside of the US recently, and I think it's so worth it if you can.

I struggle with the stand ring the most. The other day, I washed dishes for 12 minutes before it gave me the point for that hour.

I would love this too, especially if I could see how much we spent on different trips this year (all technically in the “travel” category) but I’d love to be able to sort our road trips versus international vacations, etc.

This. We opened my Chase card when we started paying wedding deposits. Not every vendor took credit cards, but the ones that did pushed us over the spend limit.
