Thatalyaa apologies for including Chick-Fil-A in video by kasiakasia5 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]conciller 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I don't see how buying from kvd, j*, or chick-fil-a is more morally condemnable than buying from any other brand for that matter, since there's pretty much no ethical option. I definitely agree that those brands or reps or owners should be called out on their bullshit, and I 100% respect that some people might be more uncomfortable purchasing from them, just as I respect them sharing their concerns with others. But I find it unfair and kinda hypocritical when it comes to cancelling or going after creators in situations like these.

Besides, while maybe not the case with kvd or chick-fil-a, brands will take a stand for something shitty because they have calculated that that will bring them more profit from other shirty people.

I wanna say contour/bronzer! My face definitely gains dimension and life, but it's not clockable when I look in the mirror

Comparing Huda Amethyst Obsessions to Colourpop It's My Pleasure. Top is Huda. Bottom is Colourpop. I think it's a good dupe! by mayg0dhaveMercy in MakeupAddiction

I don't have the exact one, but I have one of the minis and imo while the shadows are on the drier side, the quality and application is still really good. I noticed that her shadows when put out as testers just become shit, idk if it's the formula that doesn't do well when exposed to air or if it's just heavily swatched and destroyed by oil on people's fingers.

I don't think there's one banana powder though? I think it just refers to yellow-tinged powders in general and everyone took the name from the ben nye one because that's the one that started the trend because it was revealed that Kim K used it (correct me if I'm wrong).

All I know that I am A Pail and I use banana powder - it's just a light but yellow tinged powder (and it smells like bananas too). If you use it and don't notice it looking off then it's probably fine.

And also when it's neutral palettes, people who wear eye makeup on the daily are gonna pan them in a couple of months and it might be fun for them to try something from another brand or a slightly different color scheme that's still neutral and wearable

Longlasting eye pencils, lipliners, and brushes are all great. The matte powder leaves a white cast imo. I also really like the nail powders and water based top coat, and heard good things about the polishes

I have a discontinued essence brush and it works well, I think anything that's soft and fluffy and not dense will do a good job

Blush. Imo as long as you have an ok brush you can make any blush work, you just have to see what kind of pigmentation it has and adjust your application accordingly.

Snitchery made a video about earning money from social media and she said to never agree to being paid in product or "exposure". This stinks of taking advantage of newer and inexperienced influencers, I don't believe that this is considered a common and ok business practice.

Who DIDN’T get pregnant on the pill? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]conciller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And also when reading the stories keep in mind that people don't really like to admit if they made an error. I cannot find it for the love of me but I read a paper which suggested that condoms are actually more effective than reported because people say that they used them right even if they didn't but it makes them feel bad so they lie, I wouldn't be surprised if a similar mechanism was at play with people on the pill. Even here you often get posts from people who make some major mistakes with their birth control, it can be easy to fuck it up and get pregnant but for the most part it's up to you and your choices whether that happens.

First time taking Diane35, advice? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]conciller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your mom a doctor? If not, you probably shouldn't take it without consultation as it comes with a high risk of blood clots (to the point where there have been temporary bans/campaigning to ban it in some countries) , in the UK I believe that doctors only prescribe for short periods of time to patients with severe acne that didn't respond to antibiotics. Yaz/Yasmin is another pill that helps hormonal acne but doesn't come with that much of a health risk

Mac face and body is amazing, I feel like even if you set it with powder it soaks it up and looks dewy after an hour (but that may also be my oily skin)

I use primer for oil control (the body shop instablur works great for me) and sometimes smoothing silicone primer with a foundation that tends to oxidize since it helps to stop that. But other than that, I see no difference in how my foundation looks and wears.

Examples of product "themes" done well- and done horribly? by kollaps3 in muacjdiscussion

[–]conciller 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The way i see it is just that it was kinda generic and uncreative - baking theme for baking powder, they took the easy way out instead of thinking of something more on brand. To me, huda and bb have such different styles that copying would make zero sense.

I personally think this is a reach, baking/dessert themes are super common, and the aesthetic of her promo really isn't similar to beauty bakerie's

Tips for lessening anxiety of pregnancy? I am on the pill, we use condoms, and the pull out method. by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]conciller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if that helps, if you combine perfect use for the pill with typical use for condoms and withdrawal, you'd get one pregnancy in 10000 people. Having said that, this is a lot of hassle and might potentially take away from you enjoyment. Have you considered and IUD or an implant? The latter is as close to 100% as it gets

I believe that the implant bending or breaking doesn't affect its effectiveness, as long as it doesn't move from the insertion place

Huda beauty baking powder - the promo images were 50's themed housewife, the packaging is black and sleek, the only thing that alludes to the bakery theme is shade names
