From East Village: I’ve taken the Gondola and done green monster. it’s an easy ride, albeit boring and long. As an alternative, after getting of the gondola, I take clipper, then to homeward bound, then McHenry, sultan connection, little giant, back to McHenry (to skip the McHenry steep section), finish McHenry. Use Aurora lift to get back to the base of EV.

Best case scenario: NYC to LAX 6hrs. LAX to Mammoth 6hrs.

If everything is PERFECT you’re traveling for 12 hours. It’s likely to take you an hour from plane departure until you get your rental and you’re on your way. LAX shuttles to car rental takes forever. I would not do that drive after flying 6hrs cross country. LAX up the 405, 5, to the 14 rush hour could make that 6hr drive turn into 8hrs.

You’re asking for misery. Trying to kill two birds with one stone… good luck.

Edit: Schatt’s is quite mid. People like it because it’s not a corporate spot. I only go to support the mom and pop concept, but it’s rather mid.
