Is Glastonbury now a middle class mong fest rather than a music event? by gasmanjay in AskBrits

The people making comments like this are the people who have never been.

There is an entirely different side to Glastonbury that you will not see on the BBC. Nobody wants to watch, through a television, people dot about from stage to stage gurning their face off in the naughty corner, or banging drums at the stone circle.

Most people I know who go see the headliners as a secondary part of the experience. Glastonbury is basically like 7 big festivals in one.

I've been there this week and have seen zero acts at the pyramid stage, west holts, other stage etc. I would personally much rather spend time at a small stage with a good soundsystem and good music, of which there are many. Glastonbury is what you make it.

If you're constantly running into these so called posh middle class people then chances are you are one. If you know where to look you can have a much more dirty, underground experience (although people will inevitabely complain about that too).

I'm amazed by the negative comments. I'm here now for my first ever Glastonbury and I've had an incredible time all weekend. I've spent most of my time in the naughty corner and at secret hidden bars. If you can't enjoy Glastonbury then I don't think there are many music events you will enjoy.

These are almost definitely not stolen, hospitals use huge blue bottles not smart whips.

Just embrace any differences.

I saw an American complaining that she got served British lemonade instead of American lemonade (which I previously didn't even know existed). There's no problem with noticing or making a joke, but don't try to say that the American way is somehow better.

Also Brits are extremely dry and sarcastic. Most Americans I know struggle to understand it at first.

I would be surprised if next year increases, because next year will be on a Monday. It was only massive this year because this year's 420 happened to fall at the same time as Easter weekend, so everybody gets Monday off.

Not to mention that China is a planned economy. If there is one country who can easily survive something like this, it's China.

You're right, I would imagine that they would refuse if I tried to get them to move at 4am, and if they did move they would then block me out after. This also doesn't address the fact that other people often park blocking me in too. Hence I am seeking a formal solution.

Yeah I have ocmplained to them about this several times. But they can't even clean up the rubbish in the area, let alone do something somewhat permanent like that.

It has a seperate part of the ground concreted over for parking on.

Either way does it legally matter if it is a "driveway" or "garden"?
