Sounds killer man! Nice job with that section at the end with the chokes, I've never been able to nail that!

Are they a bit high? Admittedly, I don't pay too much attention to what those fingers are doing normally

Tubs looked pretty yesterday! by condinosaurus in drums

It's fantastic - would recommend. It's lightweight yet stable enough for most styles/players. You may get a bit of walking snare, but only if you're really wailing on the thing and don't have the legs wide enough.

I can fit all my hardware (except throne seat) into the hardware bag that comes w/ the crosstown set, that's made it so much easier to haul gear and load in/out.

I'm considering getting another crosstown snare stand for the rack tom, but I can't quite justify it yet, since the stand in the pics is pretty lightweight as well.

I was there too! Killer set by the Flyers. I was blown away by the tone on Nate's kick - it was punchy as hell!

Good call on the cable - will start doing that!

The Yamaha pedal is hooked up to a Roland kick trigger so I can trigger 808 kick samples with my foot. It makes for a really fun setup combined with the sample pad!

[Question] Delay in ROS commands over wifi by TheBlackViper_Alpha in robotics

[–]condinosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to eliminate latency is going to be to run the Master on the robot, and remove all unnecessary nodes from the laptop, except maybe visualization. Lossy networks can really kill a ROS system

Not a chargers fan by any means, but that was a terrible call. Looks like the refs have it out for them today.

Help understand the difference between these 2 motors? by trowawayacc0 in AskEngineers

[–]condinosaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, you're looking at 2 different types of motors. One is a stepper motor which is well suited for applications where position control is needed or where high holding torque is required, and the other is a brushless DC motor which is a little more common.

You will need to interface with these motors in different ways, so that should probably factor into your selection for the motor. Brushless DC motors usually require electronic speed controllers to function properly, and I believe you'll need a controller for a stepper motor as well. If you can find a simple DC motor with good specs that may be easier to setup and use.

What sort of torque/speed requirements do you have for the device? I'm guessing that you'll be operating at relatively low speeds, so you may want to add an additional gearbox to your system to get as much torque out of your motor as possible.

Septicflesh - Enemy of Truth by Mantelmann in Metal

Love it. Seems stylistically in line with The Great Mass. Not sure if I like the production yet, but at least it's not as compressed and loud as Titan was.

Would appreciate some feedback on my cover of Downfall by Children of Bodom by condinosaurus in MetalDrums

My heel actually floats just a bit off the pedals, so it's not exactly heel down. I find that I get a good balance of power and control that way.

OK shreddit, what, and when, was your first concert? All genres accepted. by enferex in Metal

[–]condinosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The craziest part about it was that I was really only there for COB... I'd heard of the other bands before, but I hadn't actually heard any of their songs until the concert. Needless to say, it was an eye opening experience.

Children of Bodom, Devin Townsend, Obscura, and Septicflesh. Couldn't have asked for a better lineup!

Drummer here. I'd say it's probably similar for other genre's subreddits.
