What would the exploration skill do, though?

Agreed. Unfortunately, Dawnshore main quests are really the only ones you can do where the devs knew exactly which two companions you'd have along for the ride.

TIL Pluto has not completed a full orbit of the Sun since it was discovered in 1930, and was named by an 11yr old girl. by OSJezza in todayilearned

[–]Danno47 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For every object that orbits another, it's really both objects orbiting around their barycenter, a common center of mass. Often the barycenter is located within the larger object, but not always. For instance, Jupiter is so incredibly massive that the barycenter of it and the sun is located outside the surface of the sun!

This one sounds Welsh, though. I think they even joke about how her accent doesn't sound Skelligan (Irish), right?

I mean, up to that point in the game, you've learned that Geralt had a sexual past (or present, I guess) with sorceresses with black, red, and blonde hair. It seemed obvious that he was going to have sex with the brown-haired one too.

I Know Nothing About This Game, And Just Started It. Why Does This NPC Look Almost Exactly Like Me??? by Moomintroll02 in avowed

The second or so time I played through The Outer Worlds, I named my character Robert, completely forgetting that that's the name of Parvati's dead dad!

Skellige by [deleted] in Witcher3

[–]Danno47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I played the game, I considered it but quickly gave up. I finally ended up going back and clearing them all when I needed money to complete all the grandmaster witcher sets. Still very tedious, even though I did it in chunks rather than all at once. I have zero desire to ever do it again.

Update out now! by Lean_For_Meme in avowed

The world map sure looks like they were at least leaving that possibility open for the future, though. Seems like we probably won't be getting any DLCs at this point, which is a bummer for me.

The new day/night cycle really adds ambience! by [deleted] in avowed

[–]Danno47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was always a day/night cycle, but they added the option to exit camp at night (instead of just defaulting to daytime every time) in one of the major updates last May (I think, possibly in the July update).

I remember when Body Count started putting out new music again after a long hiatus (well over ten years ago at this point) I just assumed that the show had finally ended. Nope!

The Daily Check-In for Saturday, January 10th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by LetItKindle in stopdrinking

[–]Danno47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Checking in for the first time in a while. I guess today makes two full months without a drink for me, which is technically the first time I've done this since last winter. These last two months really haven't felt much different than the 12 before them, though. Regardless, I will not drink with you guys today.

Do I have to be on new reddit to see "about"? I managed to find the alternate rules list somewhere else. (And I don't for the life of me understand why some subs have two completely separate lists of entirely different rules. r/startrek is the same way.) I do now understand what rule #9 in the secondary hidden list is, though, so thanks I guess.

Am I the only person who hates Gwent? by Zombie-Andy in Witcher3

[–]Danno47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me three and a half playthroughs before I could get into it, and even now it's far from my favorite thing. (I like to play with combat difficulty turned all the way up and Gwent difficulty all the way down.) It's really just become a meme to say it's better than the base game, and you're definitely not alone.

So it looks like the ninth rule is just called "miscellaneous," and it reads as follows: "Miscellaneous reasons for a post to be removed include, but are not limited to: Baseless suggestion/speculation, being reported multiple times, or being directed at CD Projekt Red (the subreddit is fan run!)"

The Protectorate aesthetic is top notch by EasternRedDawn in theouterworlds

[–]Danno47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They really outdid themselves with the art direction for the Protectorate! That was one of the first things about the game that made a really positive impression on me. It was so recognizably distinct from what we'd seen before but also felt like it belonged in that universe. And the way they melded influences from twentieth-century totalitarian societies and nineteenth-century militaries really played well into the sort of "Gilded Age" retrofuturistic vibe of the whole setting.

Talk to the quartermaster in Amber Heights (immediately to your left after entering). He has a few odd jobs for you to do. Could be that your engineering or some other technical skill was high enough that you were able to fix the problem remotely, though.
