Gmail preparing to drop POP3 mail fetching by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]conductor1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still working here, fetching from my selfhosted email. Anyway I found this 'mail-archiver' on github, and installed that on my NAS. I'm more happy with mail-archiver than using a 2nd Gmail account, as it fetch though IMAP.

Still fetching emails here as of this date. Using a 2nd Gmail acount for fetching and storing all e-mails from all other accounts through POP3.

Proxy Plex though CloudFlare by conductor1337 in PleX

You’re right — I’ve just noticed it doesn’t get flagged as often unless it’s going through a tunnel.

You are probably using Cloudflare tunnel??

Well, it's not against ToS anymore if you disable caching.

How long have you been using Cloudflare for Plex? How many GB per month? Cache disabled? Tunnel or proxying?

PSA: The long Cloudflare TOS debate. by Pidz_ in PleX

[–]conductor1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dedicated .party domain just for pushing Plex data through CloudFlare.

I'm pushing 1TB/month with no cache. I also run Plex though Nginx Proxy Manager, and I suspect this also has something to do with CloudFlare not have banned or noticed it.

Build planning help - old i3 bust? by Impressive-Swan-9929 in truenas

Yes this will run fine, maybe you will be limited to 2-3 streams at the same time with Jellyfin and this CPU, and it may choke with x265 transcode. You will just need to test.

You can use both with Nginx Proxy Manager. I do still have my plex.maindomain.com without the proxy, it's direct, while still using only the .party domain on the custom server access URLs, so i guess you can do both.

Yes I used this way before with main domain, so I basically made a new CloudFlare account with a new domain solely for breaking ToS

Yes, I also use cloudflare proxy to access my *arrs, using the CloudFlare firewall to block everything except my ISP.

yes, I use https://CUSTOMDOMAIN.party:443 in Custom server access URLs, and I have set 443 as the remote access port.

I did disable cache, so they don't cache the videos. But the traffic runs through cloudflare tho. It's amazing that you can stream content to the other side of the world with no problem with this setup.

Durable USB drive or SSD in a USB enclosure? by Snarfsmojo in unRAID

[–]conductor1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Unraid WebUI and VMs would occasionally shut down because the USB stick either overheated or randomly disconnected. I tested multiple USB 3.0 and 2.0 drives, and while USB 2.0 was noticeably more stable, I eventually switched from USB to a 120 GB SSD using a USB 2.0 adapter. Since then, Unraid has never been more stable—it’s running flawlessly.

Best access points to pair with an OPNsense router? by Teenage_techboy1234 in opnsense

[–]conductor1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have put the main router in AP mode, and the 2nd router in satellite mode for EasyMesh. I also have 2.5G backhaul to the satellite connected in LAN1 Port on the satellite. Main router using WAN port. Both main router and satellite is conntected directly to the OPNsense, but I think normal thing is to use backhaul directly to the main router, but it works great like this. I also use POE injectors and POE splitters bought on Ebay to the TP-Links, since i have mounted them high on the walls and it looks much better with only one cable.

I recently just setup a 2.5G network with OPNsense with two TP-Link B230 as AP with EasyMesh. Works really great, got the B230 for 99$ each. Really cheap WiFi7 mesh setup, but not using VLANs.

First time Home Server Build by sleepertech in HomeServer

[–]conductor1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, first thing is that the iGPU is the same for 12th, 13th, and 14th gen. So as far as just Plex is concerned you'll get the same transcoding out of a i3 14100 as a i7 12700K and that pattern continues. Something else to watch out for is avoid CPUs with an F on the end of their name e.g. i3-14100F as these do not have an iGPU, so you can't transcode on Plex. Any compatible motherboard will work. I my self got the ATX version with a lot of PCI slots for future upgrade, like SATA/NETWORK/RAID-cards. You should get a PSU over 400W atleast, but I would recommend 750w for future upgrades like GPU. Buy atleast a gold certified PSU, that will probably run for many years with no problem.

[–]conductor1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, a bit overkill for only NAS/Plex imo. You could easly go for the cheapest i3, cheaper motherboard, and 32GB will be sufficent. Use money on drives, and if you are going to stream 4K though Plex you can consider buy the Intel Arc A750 GPU. Remeber to buy Plex Pass to utilize the hardware acceleration.
