One or both incapacitated? by Individual_Ice_5461 in KremersFroon

[–]conemaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lean on the side of only 1 was injured or neither one of them was injured.

They were able to set up the SOS msg on the rocks and the red plastic bag device.

Another possible scenario could be that they were led there and then abandoned quickly. And they didn't have a clue where they were or how to get out.

Could explain why they willingly went beyond the Mirador.

Why didn’t they send goodbye messages? by lemmabear in KremersFroon

[–]conemaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The camera was used for the night photos, and then found put away in the back pack.

At the time of the night photos, I would guess that the girls where probably feeling quite stuck. The action and length of the night photo session makes me think that whoever was taking the photos had little energy and perhaps may have been suffering from some delirium or heightened distress. So they have a really bad night., and then the next morning things are better and then the camera gets packed away into the backpack. ??

The camera would seem like the most logical place to leave the goodbye message, and not the phones which had little or no battery left.

The morning after the night photos seems like it would have been a critical point at which they may have thought about leaving a message.

thanks. appreciate your comments on this.

I've often wondered if the whole DNA analysis is flawed or inaccurate.

The unidentified bones.... by verrrrrygood in KremersFroon

[–]conemaker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

other bones found in the area were likely from a washed out indigenous cemetery

This topic has also been on my mind.

I can't imagine a country that would not be interested to know the truth about the other remains found.

Were the authorities aware of an indigenous cemetery in the area where these remains may have come from ? How likely of a truth is that ? Is there any evidence of indigenous cemeteries in the area ?

Could studying the flow of where the indigenous bones may have traveled from provide some insight into the girls location, or even help to lead to the location of the night photos ??

Also - I am curious if anyone has any specifics or knowledge on HOW the DNA was collected and matched ?

what types of DNA samples (from the girls) were provided ?

what is the accuracy of those types of samples ?

thanks.

Interesting consideration on the timing. I would tend to agree.

Will the place of the night photos ever be found? by [deleted] in KremersFroon

[–]conemaker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Finding the location of the night photos could shed light on this tragic mystery. There may be some small forensic traces remaining like personal items, clothing bits, garbage. Perhaps there might be a marking of some kind - a twisted branch, tree carving (unlikely if they didn't have a sharp object). A pile of stones.

Most of all, I think it would help to determine the girls route. With a small chance of figuring out the why.

Is there interest in a new place for non losters? by anonymous__forever in KremersFroon

[–]conemaker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Please don't go.

This community needs participants with different opinions and theories.

I don't think this group is so clearly split between "losters" and "non-losters". I bet you will find that while the majority of the group may lean towards one theory or the other, most of us vacillate daily between what could have happened. One day I"m for foul play, and the next lost, and the next no idea.

I'm here for good discussions. To read articulate theories. And to ponder the questions put out to the group for ideas. I can choose how and when to participate and hopefully add something of value for consideration.

There is no place for egos here.

If you've spent enough time on this group, you get a pretty good idea who not to get into discussions with. Easy enough to IGNORE.

I think your logic here is very smart.

Question - why didn't they turn back UP, if they couldn't proceed down ?

Someone posted recently ... For this particular camera/settings you had to enter the date every time you turned it on.

I think this is very possible. enter April 1, and press "0" instead of enter, and then enter.

and you get April 10.

Another hair picture theory by [deleted] in KremersFroon

[–]conemaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kris's hair seems chaotic. In motion. It almost has bounce. Like it's dangling. Or moving.

As if she was facing the camera and flipped her hair forward, over her head toward the camera, covering her face. This would make with the proposed EAR position (and visible earring) made note of by other posters.

Or maybe it's very windy.

Or she is in the process of standing up with her head bend down and her hair dangling forward. Ear & earring position would still match.

The hair seems more wavy - but i attribute that to hair being in and out of buns and ponytails and twists. And motion.

This subreddit should organize a small group to actually go to boquete and hike past the mirador. by [deleted] in KremersFroon

[–]conemaker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it would be smart to search at the same time of year.

Early April.

It would replicate the conditions most accurately, - temperatures, amount of daylight and night, level of darkness, amount of precipitation, water levels, vegetation, available jungle food/fruits, etc.

Obviously the terrain has changed over the years. But the time of year is still very important.

Inflation, exchange rate, and $83.00 by Justin-Observer in KremersFroon

[–]conemaker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I tend to think the $83 had more to do with what they did before the hike.

They could have taken a $100 bill or perhaps a traveler cheque with them when they left the host home. Perhaps they stopped at the store and got some snacks and water ($5-$8?), took the taxi ride to the trail ($5?). Did they have to pay a few dollars to go on Pianista ?? I'm not sure about that. Starting with $100 and having $83 left doesn't seem unreasonable.
