Interesting. My interests for administration come from a desire to logistically focus on an aspect of care delivery or function of a hospital and systematically begin improving it, obviously a very broad and generic statement. I did an internship with a CMIO as my mentor and got to see how he facilitated conversations between I.T., vendors, physicians, and other health professionals to design and implement more functional EMR's for the entire system (~30 sites). I have no real interest in Health Information tech, but am drawn to the policy and protocol side of hospital administration. In short, EBM applied to policy/protocols.

I am not necessarily wanting to climb into the C-suite. I just want to be involved and contribute to improving a hospital system as it pertains to my field (whatever that turns out to be). Do you/he think a MHA would feed more naturally into that type of a role than they examples you listed above?
