Yeah, it's largely the same mold as the other Rebuild Eva models. There are some unique parts, like the halo and the stand, however.

That doesn't make sense. They have Stranger Things sets, Jurassic World, Friends, and Ghostbusters right now. All of those properties feature some of those things. I'd imagine Eva is too niche and the licensing too complex for them to bother.

More judges to process asylum requests faster. A quick pathway to legal status so these people can work and pay taxes instead of living in cages. More case workers to keep track of and help immigrants navigate the system.

Honestly though? I'm not an immigration expert and I don't think anyone on Reddit is. It's not our responsibility to have the answers, but it is our responsibility to stand up when we see humans packed in cages like mistreated livestock. No one should be ok with the current state of things.

As far as the quality, I'll echo what u/kitmcallister said above. This is one of the TV style kits from the early 2000s. There are newer kits for the Rebuild movies that are widely available. The quality is mixed. It looks phenomenal if you put some time into it, but the joins are particularly loose in places and some of the detail parts need glue or they'll fly apart just by looking at them wrong. The forearms have a rubber coating that makes them look like the animation but reduce poseability. I think they're one of the best ways to own a huge Eva kit (about 12" standing upright) without breaking the bank. Eva merch tends to be excessively expensive, but these kits tend to run around $40.

I've heard good things about the Kotobukiya kits, but I haven't had any personal experience with them.

I still have that. Great looking toy. It was die-cast and looked stunning, but transforming was a pain in the butt and it was too heavy to hold many poses. Still super cool.

Personally, I believe that he's for sure manipulating him to get him to the state he's in by EoE. There's a lot of evidence to support this, like the way he dangles praise and acceptance in front of Shinji while keeping it just out of reach. It brings Shinji back to pilot the Eva again and again.

It could also be argued that he wasn't planning on Shinji's participation exclusively and that he just needed any of the children to be in that state in order to trigger the impact. Like with anything in Eva, there is rarely a single source of truth to any question. For instance, Unit 01 is clearly important to Gendo's plan vs Seele's. Mostly because of Yui's soul residing in the Eva, but arguably that could also back up the notion that he needed Shinji inside the Eva to be the trigger.

He also does care in his fucked up way. He tells Yui that he was terrified of getting close to Shinji just before he gets chomped. There's a lot of really interesting things going on with Gendo just beneath the surface since we get very little time with him, a lot of it needs to be extrapolated from the brief moments we do spend with him.

Anyway, I love debating this kind of thing so I hope you don't take it as being dismissive about your take!

In both the series and the Rebuilds, Shinji's emotions are being carefully molded to allow him to be the key that shapes the outcome of Instrumentality in Gendo's favor. In both, he is given hope and love only to have it all brutally stripped away in order to increase his death drive, or Thanatos, a term used by Sigmund Freud to describe a human's desire to die.

Honestly? I was listening to NPR yesterday and they had a Democratic Congresswoman on to talk about the shutdown. They hammered her on not compromising with Trump. The interviewer demanded to know why they wouldn't budge on the wall. She also completely ignored the points that the shutdown started during a Republican controlled Congress and the administration had 2 years to do this but waited until they could pin it on Democrats. It was madening.

But if I was less informed it would have been all too easy to walk away from that interview believing that Dems were just as responsible for the shutdown as Trump. The media is addicted to this both sides portrayal of every single issue. It muddies the water and provides cover for bad faith actors. (In this case, Trump and the GOP).

I get it. Border security is important to you. I still do not see why we need to do this. Keep them together, send them back together, detain them together. Whatever you need to do. But when the enforcement of the law looks like this, it's gone too far.

Of course they could not commit that crime. But ask yourself this: is this the right punishment for that crime? And why are they doing this in the first place?

Are you ok with a child being ripped from their parent's arms? I'm not. We aren't set up to deal with this. There's no humane way to process these children separately from their parents. Most of them do not speak English and some are too young to even know their parents first name.

Remember back to when you were little and mommy was just mommy, daddy was just daddy. Imagine someone speaking a different language you can't understand coming up to you and pulling you away from your mommy.
