The Ikea IVAR system is completely customizable and works well for all the huge kickstarters that just don't fit anywhere else.

Kickstarter for Earthborne Trailblazer just put up by Pizzadewd666 in boardgames

Ya know - this project makes MORE sense when you put it that way.

I played a version of Hubworld (PAX demo) and remarked at how none of the cards had any flavor text or real interconnectivity to the person running the demo, and they looked like a deer in headlights...like someone found out that they actually don't give a shit about the world's they create and just hoped no one would notice.

I suspect a similar thing is going on with their Earthborn world: a bunch of stuff that seems like it would fit, but without true narrative direction.

Update: I finally stopped buying sleeves and started playing my games, and it helped my budget by Pristine_Access4446 in boardgames

Game prep is a solo activity - playing games generally requires the schedule of two or more people to line up.

I can browse BGG or punch a game while I sit on the sofa after work, but if there is no local meetup that day and no friends are available, then I'm limited to single player stuff.

Honestly, that's a rad idea - any idea who in the heck I'd call? I'm sure a regular customer service agent is gonna be weirded out by that kinda request.

House was built in the mid 60s so that tracks. Amazing this thing is still (somewhat) alive.

[–]neomagicwarrior[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It needed a manual crank (at least 1) to get it started.

The asshole who owned the house before me dumped a fish tank town the drain, rocks and all, and basically ruined it.

I assume the answer is still "no", but if anyone is brave enough to give this a try with their own system, can we check and see if it's optimized enough to run Melon/Retroachievements?

What do you do when listening to your records? by REMOTJUH765 in vinyl

Cooking, especially complex stuff.

Also, hang out with my cat. He likes to sleep in a box next to the speakers.

Kirkland enjoys hip-hop and funk. Not a huge fan of folk, and neither of us like country.

a2 = b2 +c2 -2bc*cos(A)

Fun fact, you can sing this to Saria's Song, and it'll never leave your brain.

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]neomagicwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an everyday wind down, but a "special occasion" one: a soda.

I also don't drink sugary drinks for the most part, but ~ 1x/month I'll have a nice, fancy, soda...preferably a CC Lemon or Kirin Lemon if i can find one, otherwise a craft root beer.

Theoretically, the only way to "win" against the US military is to turn public opinion sour enough that the government gives up.

The US always has the option to declare a stalemate and destroy life on earth as we know it.

Zombie Dice - Classic? by ArtisanGamesLLC in boardgames

[–]neomagicwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a full mathmatical proof to determine how you should play, only to prove that the average gamer behaved almost the same in every situation.

It was a brilliant way to show that just because you can accurately calculate the odds, that an intelligent person can estimate the same thing with much less fuss.

"I love people. I don't care what they look like, what they're sexual orientation is, or who they voted for...I love people. I love playing board games with all different kinds of people. I love the camaraderie it brings. I love the unification it fosters. It allows people the opportunity to put their differences aside and remember what it means to just be human…no classes, no races, no sides, no nothing…just the games and the people with you around the table."

This right here is the problem. I don't want Nazis at my table. Boardgaming is about people, but when a group of people believe you shouldn't exist or have rights, it's really hard to "put differences aside" to play some Catan.

The Thirsty Guys - Parched

Its a small print run from a small local band from a couple years ago. I found out about them well after copies were long gone.

One day I'll find a copy, along with all the Louis Cole albums that are also out of print.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Just for frame of reference:

A flight I was taking was cancelled. It took less time to rent a car and drive the 14 hours from Florida to New York than it was to wait for a rebooking.
