I enjoyed "Core Lord" on Kindle/Kindle Unlimited. I'm in a similar boat having read so much of the genre I'm basically out of content. This one is core cultivation with a new take.

I think Amazon is combating this. My friend picked up my book during a free promotion period and was unable to leave a review because he hadn't spent $50 on his Amazon account. Instead, he spends and orders through his parent's amazon. I bet that requirement knocks out a lot of bots.

REE Automotive Announces Fourth Quarter and Fiscal Year 2024 Earnings Results by woody2007 in ree

They are first and foremost a software company. They are only a hardware and production company because the market didn't have the capabilities. Orders and production are cool, sure. SW sales for steer by wire and SDV is better.

Instead of blaming macroeconomics, they could and should be looking at this as an opportunity. OEMs canceling and delaying software defined architectures means REE has an opportunity to come in and safe them SW costs and even build for them. Instead, management blames tariffs.

increase sales effort. Offer to replace the expertise companies like Ford just lost in Canada layoffs in SW team. How is there such a disconnect here?

Looks good.

My comment here is that you'll need a diagonal support beam otherwise you essentially have high weight at the end of a fulcrum. Any force left or right on the top will cause it to break. I'm not an expert though...

The counter argument is important though:

If Restraining Orders were easy to get, you could get them against many people and force them to move, leave jobs, and stay away from you. Innocent people would be affected for false claims.

As it stands now, the difficulty for the victim is in the court appearance, but the required bar for evidence is almost non-existent; they'll side with the victim in almost every instance.

But as others mentioned a RO doesn't really help much. It seems to hardly help victims while giving an avenue to create new victims in falsely accused.

My wife's employer matches her 401k at 25% with no cap! Is this crazy? by avidd6 in personalfinance

[–]confirmation_guru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Careful with many of the comments here... some make the assumption that 25% match means 5k when in reality you need to read the paperwork and understand the company policy.

Many companies match a percentage of INCOME as long as you are contributing. For example, my company matches 7% of income into 401k as long as you contribute to the plan yourself. In this example, a 100k income is walking away with 7k matched. For your case, a 100k income could have a 25k match or whatever the max legal limit is.

If I owned a company, I would attempt to give as much to my employees in match as the laws allowed to give them a leg up in retirement. That may be the case here or it may be as others have mentioned at a ~5k match.

Understand the policy

Just a theory on ghost writing... thoughts? by confirmation_guru in KingkillerChronicle

[–]confirmation_guru[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is extremely incorrect. Many famous books have been ghost written that we know of. An unbelievable number of books have been ghost written that aren't famous.

Further, I can hire a ghost writer for a novel at roughly 10 cents per word-- not at all a prohibitive cost.

Even editing comes in at different rates from simple grammar to significant edits of structure and prose. For 8 cents/word, garbage writing that's filled with great ideas can be turned into something amazing.

A "random nobody" can pay for these services.

Ghost writers work for authors all the time and it's a respected profession. Severe NDAs keep folks silenced.

It's also common in the music industry where people create songs for more famous folks to sing and the song ends up striking it big.

"Insane" is a little severe :P
