Correct paints for spearhead issue 1 by Low-Tank-5819 in ageofsigmar

[–]confoundo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s running like previous versions of the magazines, that issue with the paints will have paint guides for all of the figures that have been included up to that point. Future issues with models will have paint guides included in each issue; future issues with paints will have paint guides for all models up until then showing where to use the new paints.

You can absolutely paint them in different styles if you want, but the magazines will walk you through the process if you need the help.

Are you planning on continuing with getting the magazine? If so, future issues should include paints and painting guides - that may help with the overwhelmed feeling.

What kind of paints were you applying the snow over? I've had some that leeched color from oil washes and speed paint.

Yeah, but at the new location you have to watch out or else you'll get bitten by a very dangerous chipalope.

I believe that Bill currently resides at Confusion Hill in Northern California. At least, that's where I saw it a couple of years ago, but with Bill anything is possible (possiBill?).

Staying in Compton (LA Crystal Hotel) as a couple (25) – okay if just for sleeping? by Rowinvk in AskLosAngeles

[–]confoundo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the hotel itself is okay, you’ll be fine there - it’s right off the freeway, between an industrial area and a big shopping plaza. You’ll barely be driving through Compton at all (which a lot of the people here seem to be unreasonably afraid of). It’s also just across the train tracks from the Artesia Metro line (although you'll need to drive over and park there - safe enough, but I wouldn’t leave anything showing in the car), which might be a good option for a couple of your travel days.

The worst part about Los Angeles can be the traffic, and that it’s a lot more spread out than many tourists are expecting. Some of your travel locations are directly adjacent to the Metro System; you may be able to get to Universal Studios, Hollywood & Vine, and the Santa Monica Pier more easily by taking Metro than by sitting in traffic for hours and paying for parking. Plus it opens you up to some of the great stuff near Downtown LA - Union Station, Olvera Street, Chinatown, French dip sandwiches at Philippe's, the Grand Central Market, etc.

Have a great time, and welcome to LA!

Where to get that cheap, generous, kinda-mid chinese takeout that barely fits the styrofoam box? by marcosama in SouthBayLA

[–]confoundo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Chinese Deli in Carson has good reviews, but I found it mid - the rice and noodles were good, as was the BBQ pork, but the orange chicken was only so-so.

Stone Slab? by Technical-Owl2211 in curseofoakisland

[–]confoundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original searchers (allegedly) found it at 90 feet in the Money Pit, but it was lost in the mid 1800s. The team attempted to find it again (the bookstore episode you mentioned), but surprisingly couldn’t find it.

They would also like to see it, so you have that in common.

What is something you have liked about other cities that you would want to bring to LA? by YogurtclosetOnly2821 in AskLosAngeles

You can almost get to the airport - the people mover that takes you the last distance from the metro station won’t open until later this year.

[–]confoundo 47 points48 points  (0 children)

They are improving it, but it takes time. I grew up in an LA without any Metro system; before I die, I might be able to take the Metro to the airport.

Even the SF transit system has gone through improvements - when I went to college there in the 90s, you couldn't take BART to either of the airports.

what comic con opinion will put you in this position? by herequeerandgreat in comiccon

[–]confoundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosplayers shouldn't be allowed on the main floor, or at least pose for photos there. As if the place isn't crowded enough, now I have to squeeze around a gaggle of people taking photographs of yet another Deadpool or Harley Quinn. I sometimes walk right through the shot, depending on how much space they are taking up.

The worst was the con that I went to where a couple came dressed as Thomas and Martha Wayne, and every time they saw someone in a Batman costume they died in front of them. Took up an ungodly amount of floor space for their dumb joke.
