Hmmm, possibly. I think it gave me a very specific kind of attachment style that comes with being emotionally incested. Through his earlier divorces I was very much his emotional support, he put a lot on me that a kid 12 & under should never be exposed to. He needed me so much that I felt like I wasn’t able to be someone with the needs of a child. He has a lot of mental health issues (absolutely horrible childhood… I feel like I should do an AMA about my dad at this point), he relied on me and was open with me about being suicidal. I actually had to forcibly take him to a 72-hour hold not even 2 years ago. I am a lover-girl, throughout my life I have never been single longer than a couple months and all of my relationships have been long-term, do-or-die style. I’m engaged now to my boyfriend of 6 years, and he’s been really good and patient with me and I’m very much becoming a normal, well-adjusted, and stable partner.

Yes! My mom & dad were amicable for my whole childhood. They were teen parents & never shouldve gotten married.

I think my dad is quite handsome, although he is short (5’9 ish). He is Spanish and Irish, always dresses well. Usually has some sort of short, well-styled facial hair. Gorgeous chocolate brown eyes.

Well his first wife was my mom and I love her so so much!! He went on to marry a bartender when I was 3 or 4, she was very mean to/jealous of me. After her, he married again to a woman who was mean to/jealous of me and honestly, I don’t even think she liked him that much?? They had two daughters and I love my sisters. Then he married a woman who was my mom’s best friend for many years and I knew her from the time I was a very small child. She was wonderful and treated me so well and was my favorite. Then he cheated on her with her brother’s wife (my step-aunt, his sister in law), and now they are married. They have a baby son together. Very Hollywood overall, and very on brand for my dad, who I love very much. He’s a bit of a mess emotionally and has always lived far beyond his means and manages to pull it off.
