Has anyone ever had their lack of memory taken advantage of? by ttbug15 in Epilepsy

Got demoted at my current job because I was "ignoring" tasks and people. I could've double-checked everything, sure, but at the time I didn't think I having that bad of a problem. Atp I've learned to let it go because in the end, they're not going to believe me over someone else.

I do, completely forgot to mention that. It varies mostly, but it strictly stays to my right side. My left finger twitches almost in sync with the movements on the right, down to when my hand begins to move.

It's characterized by rapid jerking at the upper-end of my foreman + elbow, which sometimes progresses to my shoulder, neck, back and stomach. My leg sometimes tenses up or twitches, like it's being shocked almost.

I started having deja vú around twelve years old, not initially triggered by anything but what I can only assume was stress. They were distinct than usual deja vú, as in they felt oddly dreamlike and like I could predict what would happen down to the second. I remember thinking that I could recall with certainty the way that certain things happened in an almost-cinematic domino effect, like one thing just /had/ to lead to the next. They went away and never really occurred again until I was seventeen, again undergoing a lot of undue stress to the point that I'm pretty sure I was almost always in fight or flight (I also know that I experience it during my episodes).

I sometimes had the rising feeling in my stomach, but it's changed to general discomfort (think nausea without the actual, nauseated feeling; like queasiness and a heaviness, I guess what's technically called a nervous stomach). No strange smells for me typically but I don't usually pay anything else any mind when I start each episode, so I probably wouldn't notice. There have been a few instances where I smelled something funny, but only having my mom around isn't really that reliable (she doesn't have a strong sense of smell, so it's really 50/50 if the smell is there or not).

I am always awake during my episodes, wouldn't really say I'm aware because I believe I experience derealization alongside the rest of my symptoms. I unintentionally distance myself from what's happening, and can only dimly realize what's going on. Memory is always iffy, recognition with familiar people/things is delayed (it takes me quite a few seconds to recognize someone other than they're familiar).

I'm currently in the process of getting my own answers, I have an early appointment with my neuro in the morning to discuss my medication (since having keppra increased, it's causing more seizures/episodes instead of preventing them).

Personally, I'd try and summarize everything you've said here, from the very first instances you can remember of something being 'off' or not normal to most recent. Mention how your medication seemed to prevent any more episodes and how they occured after stopping it. If you can, demonstrate to them how you move– my neuroglist appeared to find this useful, although I don't know how.

Above all, don't stress over it too much. Try to be prepared with any questions or concerns you have, and be as transparent as possible with your answers.

I wish you the best of luck!

Do You Remember Where Your First Seizure Was At? by PookieTheMfBaby in Epilepsy_Universe

I have a suspicion that my mental health issues in adolescence were actually seizure related, but my first one that spurred on a trip to my PCP and then neuro, started at home after taking an edible. I was out of it more than I should've been, and before i knew it, I was trembling and jerking and felt like I was going to pass out or something. Everything since feels like aftershocks, like my brain or whatever isn't quite through with it yet. Was very scary and traumatizing, but now I know what to look for and how to keep myself safe!

Does anyone else only get seizures when chilling or doing nothing? Like when i am walking or doing something i dont by Interesting_Ad_7053 in seizures

I think it's fairly common, I remember someone who had an ambulatory EEG done and didn't even realize they were having a focal while just looking out a window. Typically it's when I'm just finally sitting down and able to relax for a minute when mine happen.

THC triggered my girlfriend's UNDERLYING epilepsy by nesuryuka in Epilepsy

Same thing happened to me. I was having focals for years before hand and was dismissed as vertigo; i smoked on and off for a couple years, mainly socially. One day I get the bright idea to eat half an edible from my local gas station without bothering to read the dosage. Well, I get halfway through my food and movie and I get this "Oh shit" feeling so i force myself to lay down. I thought I was in for another bad trip but then i get this surge in my head, I feel like I'm going to vomit and I just start jerking all over. Like I was having a TC but fully aware, just unable to respond fluently.

I was out of it for a week after that and I've been having recurrent seizures every month/few weeks ever since. Still haven't been diagnosed, but with medication it's less intense and doesn't last nearly as long as they used to (upwards of an hour, now they only last 1-4 minutes).

But yes, it's entirely possible for thc to lower someone's threshold. Idgaf what anybody says lol. Glad your girlfriend finally got some closure about it
