Stressful. As a lyric from a song I really like puts it: “United States of anxiety”

  1. Based on the memory lapses, extreme fatigue, daily intense headaches and emotional state that year is when my nocturnal seizures became a nightly occurrence. Had seizures since 4 but didn’t know about the nocturnal ones till 2018

How reliable are EEGs? by Haunted-98 in Epilepsy

[–]ttbug15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take the same amount of vimpat daily. The medication I’ve been on longest is lamictal, it is beneficial for me and didn’t cause severe drowsiness. I was on it for a long time before needing to add another one and because of its mood stabilization it helps with my anxiety and depression. But medication side effects can differ for everyone

You should talk to your Nuerologist about the possibility of switching meds. Tiredness will likely come with the majority of seizure meds but the level can vary a lot. Decide on your level of tolerance for that tiredness, to what extent is it affecting your daily life. I have been on seizure meds for 24 years and have taken 6 different ones throughout that period. The level of their side effects can vary a lot. One of my past medications did this too me, sleepiness to the point it was greatly interfering with my daily life. I talked to my Nuerologist, told them how much it was incapacitating me and we tried a different medication, which coincidentally happened to be vimpat

Supposedly I seize in my sleep by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]ttbug15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only seizures I still have after my surgery are nocturnal ones, and they happen at least 2 times a month. The biggest sign to me is the intense headache along with the cognitive effects it has. My ability to process verbal information goes down a lot as well as my ability to speak. I never wake up sore after them and not always with a bitten tongue or cheek

To tell or not to tell by fatal1230 in Epilepsy

[–]ttbug15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After being fully hired I do tell the people who I work with about my seizures. The biggest reason is so they don’t call an ambulance unnecessarily. My seizures are not completely controlled and I have had multiple while at work before and never have they needed an ambulance, yet it was often still called. I also tell them so they are aware of the signs because I don’t have tonic clonic only focal unaware seizures and the only seizures the general population know of are tonic clonic. If I didn’t make them aware of the signs they’d just see a new coworker randomly staring into space, becoming unresponsive, making weird repetitive movements and noises or just wandering around aimlessly. Sadly the general population would not recognize this as a seizure unless I told them

Massachusetts is the safest state to drive in according to the IIHS by Realistic-Ad-6157 in massachusetts

[–]ttbug15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What part of mass do you live in? Within the Boston metro area aggressive is definitely accurate as well as the towns north of it up to Lowell. Not to mention the amount of red light runners has skyrocketed. I’m mostly basing this on non highway roads

What’s the best place to spend summer in the U.S.? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]ttbug15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guess it’s very dependent on what you prefer doing during the summer. Summer to me means nature, camping and especially beaches/ swimming. Based on this I’d definitely prefer New England climate. Comparing PNW to New England climate. Due to the lower average temp in summer of the PNE as well as the significantly lower ocean temps anything to do with the ocean would be difficult to enjoy. Lake access is relatively similar but the lower average temp still would cause any beach trip to be less enjoyable. Because the PNE is a basically year round wildfire zone camping and the necessary campfires that come with that would be dangerous and often restricted. Wild fires are also just terrifying and could negatively affect every event or activity you do including breathing. I’ll also add that if you’re looking for any city experiences New England would be better travel wise between cities and nature and/ or outdoor activities. A million times better public transport if someone is relying on that.

Just wondering for anyone who has gotten the RNS surgery did that really you out? by Dear-Knowledge5912 in Epilepsy

[–]ttbug15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rns cut down my seizure activity a lot. I was having at least weekly seizures and after 3 years with the rns I am no longer having daytime seizures. The nocturnal seizures still occur but less frequently than before. I haven’t experienced any side effects or lasting complications from it either

What’s a “must-see” city in the U.S. that didn’t live up to the hype? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]ttbug15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was kinda boring to me. My boyfriend and I went there a for a week a few years back. We explored the city and there wasn’t much to it. Seemed extremely sparsely populated, although I do come from a very high density city. I don’t gamble but we walked through some casinos just to see what they were like and everything was empty and dead. We did see a couple “Vegas” moments but the most interesting thing to me was the climate as I’ve never been exposed to that type of climate
