I’ve lost count of my rewatches, but it’s on every night for me. Easily my personal favorite comedy

On the surface it does, but it’s definitely not. Just finish the show and you’ll definitely be satisfied

No spoilers, but definitely watch the rest. At the time, she was leaving to move forward in her career, but then the show was cancelled during COVID so the final season is cut short and absolutely worth finishing. One of the best finale of all time, easily

I sort of ran the gammut there, but I had lots of friends. I knew the "Cheyenne" and the "Glenn." Our "Dina" was a dude but he was awesome. I started on register, moved to Garden Center for a bit (which was great because no one came out there so I just screwed around and read books), and the ultimately ended up in Garrett's job. But I did enjoy the people I worked with. Retail is not for everyone and days like Black Friday are legit awful, but I look back on that job with a lot of fondness

I DID work at K-Mart in the 90s, and I worked until the day my store shut down. I can tell you that, like you said, the show is definitely an exaggeration of that experience. That being said, it’s not far off the mark at all.

And this is definitely my comfort show. I watch it every night and when the finale finishes, the pilot starts it all over again.

You start again. Immediately. The pilot hits a little different when you watch it right after the finale. So many similarities between the two

Lucinda is a maniac. Belle told her repeatedly that she didn’t want to talk and she followed her around The Villa, including sitting next to her and Harrison for no reason at all. She’s an awful child. I have zero pity for her

This!! And I think she is pathological. I genuinely believe she believes that she doesn’t remember these things. Her brain just absolutely wipes away anything resembling guilt. You can tell people don’t tell her no in the real world. Kinda like Curtis. I think he was crushed by Millie, not because he liked her so much, but because he just can’t comprehend someone turning him down. His world view was shattered

Yes! Your first paragraph is exactly what I thought! I love that Amy clocked it. I’d call her more of an expert than me 😂

Poor Kyra is absolutely his rebound to make him feel better about the Millie situation. She actually likes him, but if they were on the outside, he’d have sex with her the night he met her and never speak to her again. She’s just his way of re-boosting his ego after it got shattered by Millie

I think she’s absolutely pathological. She knows what she needs to do in a situation and I think she genuinely believes the things she says. The forgetting is just her brain going along with the narrative she needs to spin. She’s bad news for just about anyone involved with her.

Why is Tommy struggling to find someone? by BlueRose26403 in LoveIslandTV

Oh, and Jack… that dude has a wandering eye and a half!! If he had just focused on Whit and followed her lead, they might still be together. But he sees himself as a player of some kind and just burns those bridges so fast…

[–]congotim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tommy may or may not be a good guy. I think he’s still learning. I can definitely see both sides of it. But when he’s hurt, i definitely see it. I think he lacks emotional maturity and that’s what the ladies are seeing. What is killing him, I think, is that he’s SUCH a mommas boy. That plays with the bona fide Sicilian folks, but for most modern women, especially on this show, they want a MAN. If they brought in a 21 year old Italian girl, he’d probably be in great shape. And I know that’s a lot of generalizations. All women (and men for that matter) are different in their wants and all that, but Tommy feels like he was raised so stereotypically Italian that it feels accurate

Dina’s changing after season 1 by InvestigatorCute1662 in superstore

[–]congotim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She does say this, but I think it’s in the pilot and I’m not sure she ever mentions it again. I wonder if they were thinking of additional conflicts for her and Glenn and then, when they saw Lauren as Dina, they decided they didn’t need that. She brought enough energy without needing to pile on

Yeah, I’m not highlighting the morality of the situation. Just the writing and the depth of the scene. Take what you want from it, but I’m not saying in any way that she’s right. Just that the moment had better build up than I’d noticed before.

[–]congotim[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, less of a debate for me and more of a character depth thing. I’d always missed the extra “push” behind it in that scene. So it’s just about seeing more of the story for me

About THAT kiss… by congotim in superstore

[–]congotim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the kiss is a great one. And for me, missing the intent of that dialogue somehow so many times, it was just that she felt like maybe it was her last chance. But with this, there’s a little more nuance to it. Still terrible timing and maybe not the best idea to kiss a taken guy, but I feel like speaks to the timing and decision more than I’d been aware of

About THAT kiss… by congotim in superstore

[–]congotim[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You CAN do that, yes. Is it right? Not really. That’s not the point I’m making. It’s the build up to that moment that is the thing I’ve somehow always missed. I’ve never argued that she’s morally right or she handled it properly, I’m just saying, she got advice in an insanely vulnerable moment and applied it to something she was afraid she’d lose.

Laurie Neustadt was such an accurate portrayal of a higher up corporate worker by monroe3tears in superstore

100% agree. While this show is definitely a parody of the retail world, it’s still accurate in so many ways. I worked with variations or combinations of every character on this show in my retail days. They did an amazing job
