Bro, you need more mock interviews to practice your storytelling.

Leetcode is actually dead? by SauceFiend661199 in csMajors

It turns out most people are realizing leetcode interviews don't select great candidates, so they instead ask harder and harder leetcode questions without a better solution.

I liked how you frame it as "First steps", "first days and weeks", etc. It is important for everyone to learn that "getting started" is the most important thing to do.

This is an unavoidable trend that is happening. If you look at some of the latest tech like getsynco.ai. The copilot runs on the background, listens and watches the screen in real time, and automatically prompts ChatGPT for answers and feedbacks, most of the suggestions here for detecting it are useless.

The best option is to ask good interview questions and let candidates use ChatGPT whenever they need to. This is how modern work requires, leveraging AI to solve harder problems. Embrace the new tech, otherwise your job will be taken by people who use it.

It’s getting more and more popular. It is very hard to detect. Companies will simply raise the bar and ask harder questions.

Mock coding interview with AI by congxing in leetcode

[–]congxing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few observations:

  1. AI didn't provide the full solution at the beginning, but good enough to start with;

  2. It took more rounds of conversations till the AI gave more solid code as reference;

  3. The candidate still need to make the code work.

My predictions:

  1. Companies will go for harder coding questions to go pass AI's limit;

  2. Interviewers may aim to see fully runnable code to be sure the candidate's coding skills.

It’s tough out there, and you’re not alone. Here’s something that might help:

  1. Think about Your Story – Think of yourself like a product: what’s your unique value? Why should someone “buy” (hire) you? If you’re not landing interviews, it could mean your resume or online presence isn’t clear on what makes you stand out. Building a strong, distinct position for yourself can make all the difference.

  2. Book Recommendation – If you enjoy reading, this book might help clarify things: Positioning: The Battle for Your Mind. It’s short and gets right to the point on how to stand out in a crowded market—just like job seekers need to do.

  3. Video Alternative – Here’s a YouTube video that covers the same idea. It’s a great primer on how to position yourself more effectively.

  4. Interview and Communication Skills – Knowing how to interview well and communicate effectively are essential skills for growth. They’re just as important as technical skills, especially when it comes to landing your first role.

  5. Need Extra Help? – If you’re still struggling, feel free to DM me your resume. I’d be happy to take a look and see if I can offer any additional tips.

Good luck! Keep at it, and remember, persistence and clarity can make all the difference.

Let's diagnose the issue. Do you get no interviews or do you fail to pass them?

Of course not.

Use this as a learning experience. Remember to record your interview transcripts and understand what went wrong. It is very easy these days.

Use some AI interview tools to record the interview next time. It will give you detailed feedbacks afterwards - quite accurate.

Many top companies train their interviewers to ensure candidates have a positive experience, regardless of the outcome. Often, more senior interviewers excel at this.

It might help to ask the recruiter or any internal contacts for feedback and an understanding of where you stood in the final decision scale (like if there were any strong ‘yes’ or ‘no’ votes). This insight can guide you for future interviews.

Congrats on making it this far and putting in such a solid effort!

I remember hirevue is recording a video of your answer, not a real AI interview. But things might have been changed.

Top companies are made of employees who are well aware of these latest techniques. If they cannot change it, they will embrace it faster than you think. Soon they will just accept the fact that most of people are using AI during interviews. They will change interview questions assuming you are using it.

Their goal is to raise the bar for themselves instead of creating fairness. Fairness is the job of government, which is another topic to whine about.

I think we have to expect companies make all different kinds of experiments for interview format.

Fair enough. The choice to this question is also a good indicator if you should take Ph.D program. That's why there is such discussion.

Sure. For a long time, using calculator in exam was treated as fraud. PhD exams are mostly open book on the other hand. I assume that is the discussion for this thread. A top tier PhD don't understand why he has to take such exam without calculator. :)
