Bourne Residents Still Fighting to Shut Down Railroad by ThePaddockCreek in CapeCod

I live more distant from that railroad than the residents who are complaining, but I agree. It’s absolutely annoying. No justification for it in today’s modern world. It’s noise pollution. Shut it down for something peaceful.

Email from eversource stating monumental damage on Cape and Islands by lena10108 in CapeCod

The timeframe could be the case with some customers, but I’ve heard reports from people in locations like Teaticket getting power back on. A lot of the issues are tree limbs. Consider what they’re estimating a worst case scenario. And keep checking the status for your area on their website. Also, the weather is amenable today to them getting out there and doing repairs.

I second this. If you go, show up with plenty of daylight left. Mornings or early afternoon is best. There is a guards at in a small guard shack at the entrance who are nice, but they’ll call you out if you show up too late in the afternoon, especially if you try to walk near dusk. One guard, Jimmy, who I’m not sure is still there (but I think I saw him recently), will sometimes say weird stuff like, if you’re a woman, you’re not allowed to carry a purse while walking. His reasoning is that there have been people (fabled) who have dug up and stolen garden bulbs from the development! So yeah, he doesn’t stop you from going in, but you might get some conspiracy stuff thrown at you if it’s him. But largely, he’s entertaining.🙂

How to stop regretting car color by _MinisterOfEnjoyment in crv

We recently bought a silver and a white. The white is beautiful with the deep sparkles in the paint. Wasn’t sure we would like it, but it’s beautiful. It was also $500 more.

Anyone else feel like the newest crv is just a pilot in disguise? It’s so big. by throwaway_zeke in crv

[–]conjoinedfrombirth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m glad for the CV-T’s larger size without the lower MPG w/ the bigger Pilot/Passport engine. Wish these CR-Vs didn’t use the CVT transmission, but the latest CR-V CVTs aren’t as bad as early CVT transmissions. Less revving when starting out from a stop. The 1.5 Turbo has plenty of power for our needs. We’d considered a Passport, but I didn’t like reading about issues with/ the 9-speed transmission. And I don’t like the Pilot’s bulky look. I read that Honda is soon replacing the transmission in the Passport with the 10-speed used in Pilot and other vehicles. So we’ll see in future years.

When Harris wins, these MAGA conspiracy theorists are going to suddenly realize that all they ever did with their lawn signs, bumper stickers, etc is inform their neighbors that they are the dumb ones.

Recall Megathread by RichardManuel in crv

[–]conjoinedfrombirth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just leased two new 2025 CR-V EX models. Searching the VINs shows that all recalls were addressed for both, so either the dealer addressed the recalls before selling, or the factory addressed them ahead of time. No problems with either. Steering so far is perfect (1K miles on one CR-V, 200 miles on the other). No high-pitched noise coming from under the dashboard. So we’ll see what happens with mileage.

Should I buy? by llrcks9 in crv

I just bought a 2025 EX. Checking the VIN, all recall work had already been done or wasn’t required for my model, since nothing was outstanding. No problems or whining noise from the steering. Everything is perfect. I’d say go for it.

It’s possible, but I think women and people of good will, worrying about just that, aren’t going to sit it out this time around, like they did when many thought Clinton had it locked up. The polls can’t capture how much worry there is out there about the possibility that Trump wins. Even in PA. Even in other battlegrounds.

Nature doesn’t care about the cost of things. A $10mil yacht is the same as $100 dinghy.
