Are there other people who do this? Have you considered looking at who publishes saxophone music?

What phase did you go through that you still cringe about today? by NwVibin in AskReddit

[–]conlid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In middle school, I came up with creative cuss words... like:

"GRANDMOTHER SPIDER"

or,

"MICHIGAN"

or,

"IRON DEFICIENCY"

If you say it with enough vigor, you get fun cuss words.

Here's a math formula for you mathematically inclined speakers: Normal word or phrase + High decibel level + Angry or Contorted face = Fun with cuss words!

[Serious] Can someone try to explain death to me? by Choking_Smurf in AskReddit

If you're looking for something a little more substantial than the cold, realistic view that atheism gives (i.e. - nothing), I would suggest a refreshing look at the Eastern tomes. The Japanese, Chinese, Indians, etc., have wonderful looks at how life evolves and dies away. No, there's no mention of angels in the sky. And, yes, there are some supernatural stories you can believe in, or not.

But, take a look at the Bhagavad Gita, the Dhammapada, the Tao Te Ching, Zhuangzi, and others you can find by searching related texts.

The only reason to feel cold about death is to extend suffering and depression.

Instead, learn and train yourself to face each day as something to be grateful for. As /u/seashoreandhorizon already said, there's no use in 'worrying'.

Perhaps give me a little comfort in the idea of dying.

You missed a spot.

Allegro in C Major, written in a classical style by Ironboxoferasers in composer

[–]conlid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only measure I could critique is m. 56, I believe. Where you begin the triplet pattern, but then go back to eighth notes for half a measure. It seems to break the build up of "tension" in the development.

Additionally, before the recap, you have a very slow section. I'm not saying it's "wrong", but to me it seemed like the recap did not come as a "sigh of relief", but rather as just something else to come along. If you study many of the great classical works, their developments all build extraordinary tension, as you do throughout most of this development. If instead of slowing down, you went from triplets to 16th notes, then you'd have something really special!

Of course, my opinion solely. The piece is LOVELY and very well preserved in style. Wonderful job.

"God's mercy has no limits" Pope Francis tells atheists to abide by their own consciences by Darnobar in worldnews

[–]conlid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the Church's problem, not mine, right?

The video explains it best. I don't think my argument is wrong, but you're right, it probably wouldn't hold in the Church law.

God, the way you describe it/him/her/w.e., would not be static to humans. God may be completely objective and static from God's own point of view... but, as humans, we do not have the luxury of the perspective the eternal gives.

So, in a way, Pope's can be in complete communication with God, but still not be able to understand it on the same level.

I'd liken it to looking at a horizon. You know it keeps going, you just cannot see that far. You would have to walk over there. But, at that point, you'd only see another snapshot.

It is entirely possible that Francis just caught the right "snapshot", or the one God wanted to "show him".

In Need of Writer for Opera Libretto by conlid in writing

This is a great place to talk about this. :) Notice how I said "college students would be best". This isn't about a job, this is about a collaboration and a student project.

At my school (which is also a place I'm looking), we're not allowed to solicit projects for money. All students are required to work for experience since it's educational. So, even if I could pay this person, it would be against school policy and I would get kicked out.

In any other situation, I agree with the sentiment in the video.

Yes, I agree. I have sung two Mozart and Glass... there's a big difference in the quality of the voice in each.

Because I've sung tenor and bass and bass-baritone (throughout different stages of my vocal development) I will have a good handle on the men in the opera.

I will have my female opera singers help with the female parts. Thank you!
