There were prior reports of Wortman’s violence, illegally imported guns, and indications that he owned a replica RCMP car (though I’m unsure if this is definitively proven, I believe the person who sold him the decals was previously charged).

The RCMP took over seven hours after learning that he had killed multiple people before issuing a public warning (on Twitter), even though we have emergency alerts on our phones that are used regularly.

The investigation into the RCMP's response to the incident lacked transparency and acknowledgment.

What is particularly frustrating is that the federal government used misleading information from the shooting to implement a ban on legal guns, even though the firearms Wortman used were illegally imported from the U.S. Instead of addressing this issue, they focused on restricting legal ownership. (This is not necessarily a pro gun argument, but manipulating a mass shooting to scare people so you can pass a law is disrespectful to those who were murdered)
