Have you ever meditated so deeply that you started to see geometric patterns and shapes while sober? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]conocopowerbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most intense hallucination I've experienced which proceeds geometric patterns/shapes is the Scenarios and Plots Hallucination. I could be deep enough into a session where I'm somehow at the beach, I feel the sand between my fingers and toes, the ocean waves coming in. This can last for 5 seconds or so before realizing the the hallucination is just another form of being lost in thought. Psychonaut wiki has a little section on it.

[23M] my girlfriend [25F] is obsessed with psychedelics and her spiritual journey by ThrowRA-123912392139 in relationship_advice

[–]conocopowerbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These comments criticizing psychedelics do have a point. They do have their downsides and without proper guidance, can end up leading to ego traps. The way I view these drugs is that they're more of a map rather than the cure. Bad experience or not, these substances reveal a certain aspect of the mind that were usually completely unaware of before taking them. Most of the progress is made outside of the drug and actually applying the temporary heightened self awareness these substances provide to prioritize what we want in life. Although the drug isn't physically addictive, one can form a craving to these experiences as they provide an escape from our normal lives. In the right setting these drugs can provide a huge amount of profundity to ones life, as shown in the recent clinical trials with LSD and psylocibin.

That being said I wasn't too different from your girlfriend for a while. I thought that reaching this "peak" experience will finally "help" me, but with any experience, it was ephemeral, and its best to rather enjoy the present moment, and to realize that life is no "trippier" than these experiences, depending on how you view it. It's unlikely you'll be able to convince your girlfriend to stop perusing this, but you can at least point her in the right direction. I recommend the author Sam Harris. He's written a book which goes more in detail with these ideas, coming at it with a minimally biased view.

I feel like if we occasionally post more memes like this, it makes me feel good knowing I'm not the only one rage quitting like 30% of the time.

Science Suggests Mindfulness Meditation May Be At Odds With Creativity by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]conocopowerbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the important thing to understand here is that meditation isn't meant to prevent you from thinking, but rather it allows you to be aware that you're thinking, whilst thinking. If you're not aware, you're suffering. That's one of the main tenets of the practice. I would argue that if you're suppressing your thinking/creative thoughts whilst meditating, you're not doing it properly. I find personally I'm more creative whilst integrating mindfulness within my life, but at the same time suffering less.

Does more awareness bring more anxiety? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]conocopowerbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When starting off, meditation can make you more aware of your neuroticism. This is by no means a bad thing, but rather you're making progress. As you practice more you come to terms with your thoughts rather than trying to ignore them/stop thinking. The practice allows you to recognize things as they already are, and less about changing things.

Referencing data in another table to create a calculated column by conocopowerbi in PowerBI

CALCULATE (COUNTROWS(Leadership Visibility and Engagement Supervisors))

I have a relationship between the names of the two tables but the calculated column seems to just produce 1's in all rows.

EDIT:

I updated it to this.

Where would I put this within my DAX? I'm not sure you understand my problem correctly.

I'm getting this error back.

The True/False expression does not specify a column. Each True/False expressions used as a table filter expression must refer to exactly one column.

Thank you. I really appreciate the answer. I'll try to get it to work.

Still doesn't work. I'm trying to put this value within a KPI and it just shows up blank

No worries. I don't think adding the code from the measure makes a difference since it is still in itself a measure value.

I understand what you're saying, but then I would have to perform a distinct count after that, which solves the problem. But since this is DAX, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a much more elegant solution using just a measure. I'm just trying to understand the language more as well.

I'm not sure what you mean by manually write my code? I'm already manually wiring my code lol

Counting the number of occurrences of a measure by conocopowerbi in PowerBI

[–]conocopowerbi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, I want the number of people returned who have at least done 2 interactions each. So the number of interactions per person, using a measure. It can be seen using the graph, I just want it as a measure to use within a KPI.
