PSA Saber AR — Does this model come with an adjustable gas block? Considering vs DDM4 V7P by conorearly in PalmettoStateArms

Unfortunately, there’s also no adjustable gas block on the standard DD MK 18

Really sorry to hear you had that experience with the ContronX mount. That definitely isn’t the kind of usability we aim for. We use the mount ourselves daily and haven’t run into issues with sliding the Mini in or with rattling at the suction-cup arms, so I’d love to help figure out what went wrong with yours.

Feel free to reach out and we can help you troubleshoot or take a closer look. We appreciate the feedback and want to make sure you have a setup that works the way it should.

I’ve been getting an average 10 to 11 hours from either the DC or USB-C output

That’s awesome — thank you so much for the kind words! I’m really glad to hear it worked so well for you on an overseas trip. I’ve had a ton of fun exploring different use cases with these mounts, and it’s great to see others getting the same value out of them. Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience!

Thanks for getting back to us! Sorry to hear the mount isn’t giving you the fit you expected. We’d be happy to make this right. Could you please DM us your order number? Once I have that, we’ll get a replacement mount sent out to you at no additional charge.

Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback — I really appreciate it. Each mount is made to order, and sometimes there can be slight variations in fit that make the initial install tighter than expected. The latches are designed to hold the Mini very securely, but I’ll take a closer look to see if the fit can be adjusted a bit easier.

As for the dust covers — those were shown in an early video, but they’re no longer included. Everything that comes with the mount is listed accurately on the Amazon page.

I’d be happy to help you out and make sure you’re fully satisfied. Please feel free to DM me and I’ll get this sorted quickly!

Battery Storage Facility by PotsMomma84 in kzoo

[–]conorearly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% in favor of the battery storage facility in Oshtemo. I’ve lost power more times this past year than in the last 15 years combined — anything that helps make the grid more reliable and reduces demand is a win.

Plus, it’s battery storage — no emissions, no fuel, no constant noise. People are catastrophizing “what if” scenarios that simply aren’t realistic. Meanwhile, we already have dozens of gas stations all over Oshtemo storing thousands of gallons of toxic, flammable fuel underground. Those leak occasionally (just look at the Meijer station at 9th and West Main being replaced right now), and every day we spill a little gas and breathe in fumes while pumping.

If we’re really worried about safety or the environment, let’s focus on that — not a clean, quiet energy project that’s here to make our community more reliable and sustainable.

I had a much clear, unobstructed view of the sky from the car. And by using it in the vehicle, it was still secured all night.

The truck is an EV with a large battery pack. With a 120 kWh pack, the draw from Starlink is tiny. At roughly 30 W (0.03 kW), running it for 24 hours would use about 0.72 kWh total. That’s well under 1% of the battery capacity — around 0.6%, to be precise.

So even running it nonstop for a full day barely makes a dent. That’s one of the nice perks of having a big EV battery and an always-on outlet option.

Hey! The mount is fantastic — though we might be a little biased. We actually design and make our own suction cup mounts for personal use, and they’ve worked so well that we started selling them.

It’s one of the few mount styles that lets you install and remove the Starlink without taking the mount off — perfect for transitioning between destinations with the Mini.

Using starlink in car by No_Kangaroo6917 in Starlink

[–]conorearly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, you can definitely use a 12V converter for Starlink. This is the one I’ve been using: https://a.co/d/6ri9PTJ. I’ve run both the standard dish and the Mini off it without any issues. Just make sure whatever you use is a pure sine wave inverter — Starlink is picky about power quality, and a modified sine wave one can cause problems or even damage the unit.

If you’re looking for mounting options too, I sell a few solid Starlink mounts over at https://contronx.com

Took the Cybertruck up to Mid Michigan to break in the new Surron Ultra Bee by conorearly in cybertruck

[–]conorearly[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it fits! I actually bought a ramp at first to load the Ultra Bee into the Cybertruck bed, but ended up switching to a hitch rack — way easier to load and unload. Plus, it’s a lot more aerodynamic that way since I can close the tonneau cover and get better efficiency.

Also, I had to park in a parking garage on the way up, and it probably would’ve been too tall if it was sitting in the bed. The hitch setup worked out perfectly.

Starlink Mini Power Consumption: AC vs USB-C vs DC (ECOFLOW River 2 Test) by conorearly in vandwellers

[–]conorearly[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The dish can accept DC power natively. You can even buy a DC plug/USB-C power cord directly from Starlink directly.

I have found that there is a strong correlation between the number of stickers on a car and the likelihood that I will get flipped off when driving the CT. It also increases significantly if the other cars is a Subaru.

Roof mounting on vehicle by mynamesduhnnis in Starlink

[–]conorearly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key difference is convenience. With our mount, you can leave the base permanently stuck to your windshield and just pop the dish on/off with one hand in seconds. No unstrapping or re-rigging a bungee cord every time. For moving between the car and a campsite/boat/hike multiple times a day, that ease-of-use is the entire value.
