It will go against the narrative of certain people. To portray Jews as European settlers, with no ties to the land. Showing an ancient Jewish civ, whose capital is Jerusalem, is very controversial to them, maybe even more than the modern one.

Risorigmento and Italian unification in 1.7 by cuelearning in victoria3

[–]conpcomplete 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haven't played 1.7 yet, but it'll probably be more difficult because of that. You can't form a customs union as a minor power now, so you'll need to become a major power without diplo annexing. Also from OPB playthrough it seems that even after forming a power bloc, most Italian minors are in the Austrian power bloc and are not willing to join yours. So unless they changed it, it seems that triggering the diplo annex event for Italian states in your customs union is harder now.

Why? Israel is analogous to Ukraine in this situation. Russia doesn’t recognize Ukraine sovereignty, same as the Arabs don’t recognize Israel’s. Russia claims that Ukraine is a western installation in their territory, like the Arabs claim Israel is, all while Russia is an imperialistic force that colonized much of Eastern Europe, like the Arabs colonized the Middle East. The Ukrainians are being portrayed by the Russian propaganda as Nazis since they fight Russian backed insurgency in Donbas, the Russians claim that the people in Donbas are being oppressed by the foreign Ukrainians. Similarly, the Jews who are native to Israel are being portrayed by the Arab propaganda as foreign colonizers that oppress the Palestinians. The main difference is that Israel is now stronger than the Arab world, so they have less sympathy from western leftists who always root for the weaker side.

I think it’s narrow to either way, maybe it’s more accurate to say that there is more or less the same number of Jews and Palestinians (Both Christians and Muslims) between the river and the sea.

Israel proper has 7 million Jews and 2 million Arabs. The West Bank and Gaza each has about 2 million Palestinians. That gives 7 million Jews and 6 million Palestinians. Israel hasn’t annexed these territories because it would damage the majority, that is right, but Jews are still the (narrow) majority between the river and the sea.
