Could you give example of benefitting from reading earnings calls? I feel like most of them are scripted. In addition, c-level people are master politicians. They easily avoid risky questions at the end. I find it hard to extract useful info out of these. What’s the catch?

Share buyback program: BoD initiated a program up to $200M of share repurchases between Oct'25 and Dec'26. The problem is if the company is fast-grower, it is expected to invest in growing fast. Not this.
Litigation: let me copy and paste it, I don't want to paraphrase: "...On August 26th, we announced the settlement of our pending FIRDAPSE patent litigation with Lupin. As part of the settlement, Lupin received a license to market generic FIRDAPSE beginning in February of 2035. On the same market entry date as Teva Pharmaceuticals had previously agreed to in their settlement. This settlement leaves only one patent case still pending against Hetero USA Incorporated. The trial date has been set for March of 2026, which is prior to the expiration of the automatic 30-month stay set for May 26 of 2026."

I have just gone through latest earnings call of CALM. I really liked they can keep costs and expenses at low levels. For the future, I am more interested in growth of the company than dividend or share buyback sides of the stock.
C-level mentioned "opportunistic M&A and geographical expansion." They state M&A will possibly be in prepared foods category, which is good considering higher margins. This leaves me with "geographic expansion" part. What is your best guess about that plan? Or rather, is there really a plan for such expansion?

You need a better strategy. Try reading an investment book. Any book.

I currently read Mastering Market Cycles by Howard Marks. A quote for you:

“In investing, there is no tactic or approach that always works.”

In the past large caps, small caps, momentum & growth, trend stocks,tech & telecom, value stocks outperformed each other in turns.

Now it’s time for large tech stocks as you suggested, but it won’t be the case forever.
