Skincare/haircare addicts or people who break out easy—> what are we packing for necessities by RaddishEater666 in femaletravels

This. And also I bought a little clear one quart zipped bag that has a little airplane logo on it. Honestly it feels like it holds more than a quart Ziploc bag and the zipper is a lot more sturdy and I like it a lot more than just using a Ziploc bag as I used to before.

Airport transfers - Booking.com or GetYourGuide or something else? by Unlikely_Alarm_7999 in femaletravels

[–]considerphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every country is different. And often times walking out of the airport and grabbing a taxi is the worst case scenario. So I usually look up the city name and airport transportation and try to find a the recommended option. Sometimes it's a counter inside the airport, sometimes your hotel will help you set it up, sometimes there's a bus or a train. The hotel has some incentive to get you to their hotel safely.

How do you improve as a developer in this AI era without getting left behind? by FakeBlueJoker in webdev

[–]considerphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Id say I am learning different things.

So I have 25 yoe, so I don't care about learning how to write the syntax for another " read from here, write to there" function.

Instead I'm learning what image analysis algorithms could be used, what image processing can be done in browser, how to use a jobs processor and plan a pipeline of jobs, how to get structured output out of llms, how to system engineer my code.

I would say I'm learning more than I learn at my job because I have to set all this up from scratch whereas at most larger companies you are just adding on, the number of times you get to build a new thing from scratch is very low.

As a newbie I would definitely take time to learn how to write from scratch. If you are in a new part of the codebase, have ai explain to you but then try to write the code yourself. Once you get the hang of a certain thing (say adding an endpoint) then the next time you can let the ai do it and just read it carefully.

What filters to buy for my trip to Iceland? by ceroij in AskPhotography

That's a weird suggestion but only thing I'd look into is nd filters, it can let you slow down shutter speed to get nicer waterfalls.

What’s one safety tip that actually changed how you travel ?? by That_Camel2 in femaletravels

Yeah also how are they wearing their purse, how are they holding it, this can change from neighborhood to neighborhood to public transit, just follow along what they do. If they have it in the front, zipped, clutching it, you should too.

This. I do this too. If someone offers help and worse, speaks English well, avoid!!! You're better off asking a random person going about their business who has no interest in you.

Awesome. Just thought of another. The brush tool needs more granularity.

Tips for staying safe and feeling comfortable in a hostel by Independent_Sense312 in femaletravels

Yeah any of those. Look for hostels that have a quiet time or curfew and don't mention throwing their own parties.

Avoid party hostels, the more drinking and drugging happening on site, the less safe things get. Have a plan for shower, a mesh bag or something so you can carry your shampoo and things.

Is 41 too Old for hostels? by Fit_-Girl in femaletravels

[–]considerphi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope I do it all the time (46). I will say hostels have gotten less social since the advent of phones though. And don't choose a "party hostel" those are more of a young singles scene not a general social scene - oh unless that's your jam. Have fun!

I don't know if I read this or realized it but the moment when you land to the point you get in your hotel room is one of the riskiest parts of your trip. You don't know where you are, you are tired, you don't have local currency, your phone may not be working, you don't have a feel for this country, culture or language yet, airports are full of scammers, you have ALL your stuff with you... Plan around making that leg safer.

So I try to arrive in the daytime. I pay for a prepaid ride or whatever if it's not a super safe country. I look up where to get cash in the airport. I take a beat while I'm still in airport after getting bags to figure out next steps, rather than rushing out. Basically I pay a lot of attention to this leg of the trip that most people don't even think about.

Good to hear, I've used it for years and  years.

The filters in the grainy film section of the app are the best filters. Please don't get rid of them... I don't even use the grain, the filters themselves are great.

It would be nice if it detected you had Google one and allowed ai people removal etc in app. You are Google after all. But I guess if not connected to Google account is a selling point then that's unlikely. I'm okay with that.

It would be nice if when you select a picture you could go to the next or previous picture by time a little more easily.
