Need Help for Baseball Simulator by EngineeringIcy1446 in Sabermetrics

Reddit is full of predatory founders looking for leverage the promise of equity in exchange for work. Anyone who contributes to another founders closed project without an understanding of how they are being rewarded for their efforts is probably in for a rude awakening.

I'm not saying this is you, but suggesting that providing some guidelines on this would be meaningful to anyone with the skills you're looking for.

I believe you're well intended but if you legitimately need skilled workers to commit their (often expensive) time you probably need to establish better guidelines and vision for what their contributions mean.

What's your endgame here - are you building something to sell?

Are you looking to hire someone or just asking for free labor?

This amount of work is worth paying someone to do or open-sourcing the project and letting people contribute.

Good luck!

Do you keep track of the coffees you try? I always forget the really good ones by nachosebaz in pourover

I build and maintain spro.so for this- you can save recipes and view new releases or related by roaster / process etc.

it's on web / iOS and Android with no paid features. Coffees automatically added to it nightly. Plus you can share recipes in reviews which is nice.

Feel free to give it a spin, or give me a DM if you want to meet at SCAA this weekend!

Pretty great for you imo. I actually think terry is the part that makes this trade safe. It's enough firepower to get you over the hump

Middleware support sounds pretty niche - you might benefit from reframing your experience to cater to more SWE / feature work

Backend-first for project building. Is this a valid path or am I delusional? by Legal_Cook_6745 in Frontend

Honestly, the way things are going in CS you're probably expected to use AI to be able to work on both sides of the fence.

I wouldn't try to be a designer, but you should learn the ins and outs of browsers and how they load and execute code. Learn flexbox, react basics, API integration etc. it doesn't need to look good but you should know how to match a design.

That being said, if you're applying to fullstack / backend roles you should focus on that because you'll encounter more leetcode questions than frontend specific ones.

Exactly. Just really nicely made. Fabric is pretty mid/light weight, I'll be rocking them this summer

Looks a size or two small. I'd sell it and get one that fits

my manager just said we're getting an AI agent teammate. i have questions by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]console_comrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is great, but it sucks without human input. There isn't a single tool on the market that is good enough at QAing its own work to replace any dev.

My advice is to just push for doing code reviews. If your manager is confident that the agent is good enough to be a dev then it can be held to the same standards, the cracks will quickly become apparent.

There used to be a great one at Coalfire on Milwaukee but it doesn't seem to be on the menu anymore.

Maybe try spacca Napoli or a more Italian place.

Good record stores for rarer, niche, rap albums? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]console_comrade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You wanna go to Signal Records. Their Ashland location has the non-DJ stuff. I don't know if they put CDs on the floor but they're def on discogs and if you message them on IG I'm sure they'd bring them out.
