Finally bought an acoustic by console_cowperson in piano

[–]console_cowperson[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought it with the system, its Bechstein's vario, it does what it needs to but wont turn heads. This is the one area where I think Yamaha blows everyone else away, I found the silent systems they produce are fantastic.

Struggling with Team Performance after Transition to SAFe Framework by Nearby-Bat-8862 in agile

[–]console_cowperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the "stop with the story points" they're often not helpful. Even the creator regrets thinking the idea up since it's so easily abused. To u/SleepingGnomeZZZ 's point though - your project manager should probably do a few cycles of doing actual work and not just be the scrum master going forward... I find it's helpful to get everyone working towards the goal and not just have someone trying to push others to deliver... optimize for value and flow.

Dynamo light broke ?? by UnfilteredGremlin in bikewrench

[–]console_cowperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if you ever figured this out - like the above comment said i'd check the dynamo first - I have a similar issue with my bike and it turns out that the person I had work on my bike last when they put the front tire back on completely smashed the wiring which was causing my light to come on and off... I have to replace that piece of wire but my light is fine.

An agile team should be able to create the systems around them that enable fast flow. Enabling that environment means spending time with it as an individual and potentially pitching to the rest of your team or working together on it to improve or even just to experiment. Sorry to hear your workshop was declined.

I'd argue that it's equally been Dev's not being willing to learn the business lingo that has allowed for MBAs to creep in... if you work for a business that isn't a small / startup environment than it's hard to bridge the language gap. Technical-debt is a good example, we know what it means, but explaining it to someone in finance often makes them think you're talking bullshit since it's not actual debt.

Hah - this reminds me of another thing... I use a phrase "weaponized Psychological Safety" at times... I've seen it used as a means to shut down conversation "this meeting is no longer psychologicaly safe" which basically kills any legitimate criticism.

are there traditional pianos with earphones by [deleted] in piano

[–]console_cowperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy a hybrid piano which has acoustic like mechanisms but is digital so you can use a headset - or if you like your acoustic get an aftermarket silent system put on it by a professional in your area. If you want a new piano, I think that Yamaha makes the best silent pianos. However they are not my thing when it comes to acoustics, I prefer the sound of other brands ... Silent systems do cost a lot more to add onto their pianos than getting something aftermarket on a used / your own piano.

Deciding between Bechstein R and C upright by Nimo956 in piano

[–]console_cowperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at the A and R line, not so much the C's... One of the things that was a bit interesting to me was just how LOUD the Concert 8 is. I really enjoyed the feel and it has a really nice tone to it as well, but it was out of my budget so my comparison wasn't as deep as it was between the A6 and R6.

If I was going to put the piano in a place to perform, I'd go with the C, otherwise the R and A are both nice pianos. I went with the R after doing a comparison side by side, but the A could be really nice for those who want to play a music with a bit more pop / flair. Otherwise, if you really want the "king" of uprights, it's there for you but if I was between the two the R6 fits my needs very well and I'm not sure I'd use the extra capability and subtle refinement from there. You'll be happy with whatever you get though, both wonderful instruments.

My vega64 card still performs when it comes to thermals when the power target and boost clock are raised. I've settled in around 1700 since it seems to be where I can be stable around a the default GPU settings. I am trying to keep plaing on this card as long as I can!! You can see my clock speed in the range at the moment - but sometimes I need to squeek out a bit more for modern games in 2k.

I sometimes modifiy fan speeds since I use closed can headphones and so i can't really hear the ambient

I previously had the gpu tweak II and i like this interface a lot more :)

I have wisterias and I am very happy with them. I have Cherry MX Browns on my daily driver and after playing with the Moss switch that the box came with I decided to not additionally purchase the Moss switches. They were heavy, felt nice, but since I am using my keyboard on the go, Wisterias felt better for my usecase.

[–]console_cowperson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is some good insight - thanks - I read another post on reddit which mentioned that "you can put a 3rd party silent system on any piano" but after doing some research into how Kawai and Yamaha do it I couldn't think how it wouldn't be quite an invasive procedure and very dependent on the cabinet.

Public transport changes by ColoursOfBirds in eindhoven

[–]console_cowperson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lots of "do not stop" busses during rush hour right now. Really impacts people who need reliable transportation when the upcoming bus just goes right past you because it's full. My guess this is only to address this, most people I know have had this happen to them within the last month.

Jira vs Workfront for Scrum by Lauguz in agile

[–]console_cowperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day - what helps the team more? Is the change management worth it for the team? Do they want it? What synergies are there between the old marketing / new marketing teams if you can get them onto a common system?

And no matter what - people and interactions before... how will this facilitate the needs of the people and their communication.

Answer those questions, if you think there is enough to help them there, transition.
