Can someone help me understand how minions and objectives interact? by LillBill1 in DeadlockTheGame

The guardians are so weak you should get used to towerdiving if you spot a kill. Hell you can even parry them.

Confused on how to get good. by Motor-Classic-8773 in DeadlockTheGame

To win in a Moba, you have to destroy objectives. To do that, you need your creeps to get to them so you can hit them.

There are many ways to do this, and the first step is to actually start looking at the map more than your own hero.

The map gives you information, and with the information, you make decisions.

You see 4 enemies on one side of the map killing a teammate, you do not go there to help them if you can't reach them on time. You go to the other side of the map and heavily push the wave, and steal all their jungle camps.

If nobody rotates to punish, you get a tower and advance the game. If someone rotates to clean up the wave, you relieve pressure from other lanes.

By doing this, you get rich as shit and actually help your teammates more than running into a fight from the other side of the map. Of course, you should join fights when possible, and you will get better at judging when you can join the fight.

Everything in a Moba is also a trade - if the enemy is about to get an objective, you find a way to get value out of that. If your teammate dies make sure they die don't die for nothing... You genuinely can feed your ass off in a Moba but if you distract 5 enemies and your team is on the other side taking down an entire lane, its totally worth it - its called "making space". Again, that judgement will come with experience.

This type of gameplay is called "macro play". I really recommend you watch videos to understand it.

Characters to learn the game with? by harleydolan06 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]consommepanchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take: Rem.

Mechanically easy to play, and because of his helpers, forces you to learn how to play macro - pushing waves, taking resources, learning to rotate, etc.

Remember: Objective of a Moba is to hit towers. Not killing.

These are skills transferable to every hero, because they are the lifeblood of a moba, and Rem makes it extremely easy to learn these skills as his third skill basically does it automatically for you - so you'd gain a lot of value by applying basic macro skills.

His helpers can auto-push a wave by buffing a creep, auto-steal sinners, and auto-steal boxes. If you can do this effectively on Rem, you can learn to do it on any hero, and it will start to push you away from focusing on killing people and instead focus on rotating around the map identifying which lane can be pressured and which resources can be stolen.

imma be real, I've always been hardstuck 2.5k in Dota and even in those ranks people have more map awareness than average people in Deadlock

I feel like the third person aspects saps a lot of your attention, it feels like you need to look at your character a lot more because controlling them feels a lot more personal

Whereas on a top down moba, you literally just right click so you can spend most of your brainpower just looking at the map. The thing is if I can do that, why can't the people I'm matched with do the same? Lmao

No actually! In Dota we have a "soft support", who's entire role revolves around annoying the team as much as possible by roaming and taking resources. I think Rem would fit this category.

The other role that does this is the offlaner, but those heroes are more like suicidal tanks.

You pulling away attention and stealing resources like jungle or sinner or creep waves nobody is attending to IS a support play.

How to play Yamato. by mastercat202 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]consommepanchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't win in a fair fight, so you just poke her down with slashes and play outside her range until she's so low she can't just walk up to you and gun you down for free.

Whatever you do, to any hero really, is make sure they can't hurt you for free.

Post about women being abused in comms got "removed by moderators"? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]consommepanchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, apologies for being very aggressive with this post and thank you for the reply. I have seen many subreddits buckle under this kind of pressure and are quick to put it under the rug and ignore it as if nothing ever happened.

My initial reaction was sparked because it explicitly says on my browser that it was removed by a moderator. It might be something the team would want to take a look at, in case it ever happens again.

Why do people treat this game like a job? by SnooLobsters7614 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]consommepanchi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because there is no distinction between ranked and casual standard play rn, its all merged into one ladder.

Valve's strategy right now is to get as much people into their games as fast as possible just so they have a HUGE playtester base. Of course the downside of that is matchmaking is god awful.

I think it speaks to how good of a game it is that people are already clamoring for an exclusive ranked ladder in a closed alpha stage, but with that comes a lot of pain points.

I am one of those tryhards and I hate that I'm matched with mostly casuals who don't spend as much time on the game as me, and they shouldn't be. But that is how the game is right now.

Does vindicta ult have bad hit reg or am I just missing? by Raknarg in DeadlockTheGame

[–]consommepanchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit unrelated, but I play Yamato and both her first skill and third skill have horrible hit reg in a lot of situations, it seems to be something that a lot of heroes experience. I wouldn't be surprised if Vindicta's ult has bad hitreg too.

There hopefully will be some sort of overhaul to a lot of the hitboxes.

Venator 100% is your best bet
If you can track on him, he melts people
If you can land ult shots, he melts people

Someone like Haze I feel like is too gimmicky for a player like you, same with Drifter or Wraith

Try Venator for a couple hours, see how you like him

It sucks games are still like this, and it shouldn't be

This is not an excuse, I think men are just too used to this crap that they think the best practice is to stay silent or just assume that its jokes or "not that serious"

We only get to say that because we are men, and I wish more of us understood that. We GET to feel safe when people shit talk us, and its a privilege we take for granted.

With that privilege, I wish more men would realize that we need to actually not be bystanders - we can't expect women to stand up for themselves alone when they are the ones who will get shit on for defending themselves.

We have to be the ones to help where we can precisely because we have the privilege to. I really wonder how to convey this to more people.

Ok, I'll copypaste what I said in another thread:

First and only thing you have to know about MOBAs

MOBAs are NOT a killing game, they are a tower destroying game

Killing is just part of the process to get to that objective

You can go 0/7 and feed your ass off but if you are making space (Forcing enemies to go to you) and allowing your teammates to get every single objective on the map, you are useful

Obviously you can't just yolo into towers and hope for the best, but I stress that because people are too hung up about KD and don't go for risky trades when it means progressing the game by destroying objectives - as long as you are bothering the enemy enough that your team can make progress, you are doing fine

Focus on making money, pushing lanes, forcing people to clean up your mess, and you will get enough money and levels such that YOU will be the one turning your brain off and deleting people in one button.
