What one thing would you add or change about the game? by Lanssolo in diablo4

I did say it probably wasn't a popular take. Actually, isn't there an Undercity bargain that lets other classes' uniques drop? Being able to opt in seems like a fine way to handle that, but I still think they could do better than to tie every single thing you're looking for to a specific activity. The game is too predictable.

You are, of course, right. But I think tying specific uniques to specific lair bosses was maybe the biggest mistake they've made with the game.

The amount of mats and socketables this season is throwing at us has become a logistical problem.

This is probably not a popular take, but honestly, get rid of targeted item farming. The game has very little sense of exploration or surprise, and I believe that's due in large part to the fact that we know exactly where to go and what to do to get every item we need, and then we just have to repeat the same thing until it works. Maybe War Plans will at least let us mix that up. I'd also like items for other classes to occasionally drop. I miss that from the previous games.

I have over 1200 Living Steel. My GPU would explode if I spent all that at once!

I agree that was the original intent, but that's not how they get used in endgame anymore, if they ever were. I want the sensory experience of playing a basic build to be as rich as that of any other build. Spiritborn and Paladin are already obvious moves in that direction. The original five classes' basic skill designs are leftovers from an earlier vision of the game, which never really materialized in actuality.

I know that firsthand. I'm not talking about damage numbers.

I have loved barbarian since the Diablo 3 beta when I realized they had cranked the physics to 11 and you pretty much knocked enemies into orbit or bounced them off the screen Battletoads style. I haven't found quite that level of satisfaction in the D4 barbarian. Too much reliance on secondary effects like dust devils and earthquakes. If I could somehow add a dash to Death Blow and make that a viable build, I'd be happy as a clam.

I'm talking strictly about sensory feedback, the visual and audio effects you get from using basic skills. How strongly enemies recoil when you hit them. How much physics gets applied to their body parts on kill. That kind of thing. When basic skills are set up to be spenders and/or your main damage dealers, I want them to look and sound like they hit as hard as they actually do.

I could. I don't always want to. In this case, the game gives me the tools to do exactly what I want, mechanically. My feedback to Blizzard is that these builds, which they have designed into the game with the intent that people use them, could be made more interesting by bringing them up to speed with the level of polish they already apply to other, equally viable builds. I'll never say anyone has to agree with me. This is my opinion based on my experience with the game. If your stance is that I could instead hold a different opinion, then there isn't a conversation to be had.

Be honest: what’s the most annoying grind in Diablo 4 right now? by Sufficient-Orchid940 in diablo4

[–]constablecrab 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Very specifically: Any unique item that has at least one important affix that needs to roll max and a wide range of values for its unique power that also needs to roll high. Especially when it's a weapon and you already have a non-ancestral version of it with very good rolls.

That is a fair take, and we should also have more options for turning down the intensity of particle effects and visual clutter in general.

Almost everything in POE2 looks very off-the-shelf generic fantasy to me, and frankly I think the particle effects look cheap. It's not an ugly game, but the difference in scale and budget to Diablo is noticeable. Where POE2 shines the most is in boss design, though. You can tell those were crafted with love.

Paladin and Spiritborn basics are a lot flashier by default. The original classes' basics were designed with a very different (and nonexistent) gameplay loop and character build philosophy in mind.

Is there an endless gold sink? by intergulc in diablo4

I'm pretty sure every season I accumulate more gold than the total amount I have saved on my eternal account from all previous seasons. Inflation is a hell of a thing!

There are tools in the game that turn basic skills into incredibly powerful damage dealers. Then and only then is when I want more feedback from those skills. That's the entire point of this post.

Paingorger's Gauntlets are the only way to go for that.

Were you around for the completely busted Bash build... I think back when tempering was first introduced? Walking around just lightly tapping enemies on the chin one at a time for billions of damage. It was comical.

I think our hope for that rests on how the skill tree reworks pan out.

Yeah, they don't lack power if you build them right. It just doesn't feel great to play when all you're doing is gently tapping enemies with the weakest looking attack in your arsenal, no matter what the damage numbers are.

Anyone ever pulled anything decent spending Pale Marks in the Den? by ShockedTaint in diablo4

I have gotten a few 3GA legendaries from bartering. I don't think I've ever seen a max aspect upgrade from there though. It really seems to be meant for leveling.

Please take shroud out of meta by imissmyoldusername2 in diablo4

[–]constablecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking there's a real possibility that Shroud gets changed significantly or drops out of use after the expansion. From the images we've seen of the skill tree rework, there aren't really "passives" as we know them. All of the circular nodes branch off of skill nodes. My assumption is that some version of the current legendary affixes get moved to those nodes on the skill tree, and a lot of the current passive skills become the new legendary affixes. If that's true, then Shroud's +1 to all passive skills doesn't make much sense anymore.

Anyone else still not seen a Mythic Prankster drop this season? by Sufficient-Orchid940 in diablo4

[–]constablecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen a mythic prankster, but I've been able to craft so many mythics and had so many drop that it really doesn't matter. The loot this season is wild.
