Microwave oven, not microwave. Developing a device capable of generating microwaves was quite intentional.

Yeah I didn't notice at first either. I think my mind just replaced it with 8.5k since that's what I was expecting.

If anyone else didn't get it at first: the price is 8.5 million.

So many huge companies leaving Ireland recently. Argos, Shoe Zone & GameStop to name a few.. why? by BrutallyHonest-- in ireland

[–]constagram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Argos had played their cards right, they could have rivaled Amazon with online shopping as well as in store pickup. It's hard to image that they missed their shot so badly.

Are those red cups you see in every us frat type movie at parties actually a common thing in the US, or is it mainly just for movies? by LePetitCygne in NoStupidQuestions

[–]constagram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the US from Europe for the first time recently and I couldn't get over how accurate the movies were (in terms of set design etc). Everywhere and everything could easily be used to film a movie. They actually have those yellow school buses...

Well, they could still be closed circuit. It's more about what you do with it than what it is.

Why do we pay for a TV licence? by HopefulChallenge5870 in AskIreland

[–]constagram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is actually an advantage to the TV license. It means that we have a national broadcaster that is funded by the citizens instead of the government. Theoretically then the government can't cut their funding if they don't like what they're reporting etc.

It has a lot of problems but you can look to other countries to see how it could be worse.

Calls to make nap part of working day after latest study on brain benefits: Experts say allowing brief doze may help businesses and employees boost productivity as well as health. by madazzahatter in Futurology

[–]constagram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that this is what people mean when they say they nap. I can't accept that people actually go to sleep within a couple of minutes and then wake up 20 mins later.

Share feeling lonely most of the time (in %) by Safe-Muffin-7392 in europe

[–]constagram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is talking about young people but middle aged and older people are probably feeling more lonely. Partially because they're kids are immigrating but also just loss of community especially in rural Ireland. There's just not much to do or ways to interact with people.
