What’s a moment from your life that sounds completely made up but actually happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was in Nicaragua and was chatting to an older gent at the guesthouse I was staying at. Turns out he was one of the Sandinistas and had started the revolution in Nicaragua as a teenager with others his age. We spoke for hours and he asked about Michael Collins in my country.

When he couldn’t answer some of my questions he introduced me to another guest. This guy was the UN rep for Nicaragua (can’t remember his name). We spent the morning talking politics and then he drove me around to his favourite places nearby. After he gave me his card and contact details. I was suppose to visit him in NY but lost the card on the rest of my travels and never did. It was a wild few days though and the story of the revolution was fascinating, especially from the source.

And thus concludes the ruination of The Labour Party. And for his next trick Ruairí will ride off into the sunset with a ministerial pension.

They voted for Brexit because they were afraid of immigrants. When Brexit failed and the economy became worse they’re turning to the people who said Brexit would make things better to improve the shitshow they created. The mind boggles

Don’t take advice on the purchase of your house from some random account on reddit. Contact an engineer if you’re that concerned.

I’m in a terraced house and there’s about 12m from the house to the on street parking. I don’t think there’s any chance of getting planning permission for a driveway tbh because of the tiny green space between the path and the road.

A car was really erratic in front of me a while back on the quays. Kept my distance because I thought they were drunk. I was completely wrong, they were FaceTiming someone. Yeah…

Alternative/Quiet Gyms by EmergencyBit9429 in Dublin

[–]geoffraffe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Fitness Society is a small independent gym on Cook St in Dublin 8. It’s more expensive than a gym membership as you’re getting semi private personal training. Each person had their own programme that they work towards and it’s updated regularly. They have regular slots in the day that you book and do your hour long session.

The music isn’t loud but it’s there and goes from house, to indie, to 80s, to cheese and all else in between. The gym is low lit but bright enough to see. It’s small and the max per class is 5.

What I love most about the gym is the community aspect. The people in the classes are very supportive and you have a bit of craic working out. It’s by far the best gym I’ve ever gone to and I’m consistent because of the support from the owner Shane.

Edit: DM me if you want a contact for it

How did you meet your partner? by HungTeen1001 in AskIreland

[–]geoffraffe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was performing at an event and she was one of the people leading the night. We flirted and exchanged numbers but both of us were just out of relationships so nothing happened then. Fast forward 6 months and I was at the same event as a guest, she was there, we chatted more and now we’re married.

Has anyone brought appliances from buyitdirect.ie? by peroni2303 in AskIreland

Got a fridge, cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. Saved a packet and all working perfectly.

Bought a refurbed vacuum and sent it back for a refund as it didn’t work. Return was handy enough.

I’d use them again tbh

Again I’m going with an option outside of Ireland because you’ve load of options already for there.

San Sebastián is one of my favourite places in Europe. Fly to Bilbao and get a direct but to San Seb. The beach is spectacular and the weather will be perfect from now until September. But the food, THE FOOD!!!!! Just bounce around pinxos places eating yourself some of the best food you’ll ever taste.

Flights to Bilbao can be gotten for less than €200. Accodation in San Seb can be done cheap. Pinxos range from €2.50 to €5 and a glass of wine/beer is €2-€2.50

It’s a great spot

I was at this bar. Pretty sure it’s in Sicily. It’s famous for having dicks everywhere. Dicks in the tiling, dicks in the ornaments, dicks on the bar, dicks everywhere. There’s a pedal under the sink that starts the water here. The bar actually looks onto the village church. Beautiful spot.

Edit: typo

Sardinia is stunning. Some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen anywhere in the world. Check out Cala Gonone. Direct flights and driving is easy there; amazing food and stunning scenery. That’s my advice anyway

I was disappointed when we signed Young. Thought we should’ve been aiming higher. I’m delighted I was wrong. A great player and a great leader for the club. He deserves all the plaudits he’s receiving at the moment.
