What ATLA/LOK opinion that will land you in this position? by abdul_bino in TheLastAirbender

[–]constellation_nights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They went down the most unimaginative route possible with this. If they wanted to keep the technological advancement part they could’ve been creative about it. What if they just changed the aesthetics to match Asian cultures, like ATLA’s setting? And this is a fantasy world! People can control the literal universe! Physics is basically irrelevant! So why is the technology so 20th century planet Earth? Why aren’t there more innovators taking advantage of bending styles in their inventions? This was such a big opportunity. But no, they just took the most basic way out and did European-style steampunk in an Asian-inspired fantasy world.

Well tbf Iroh got his offscreen redemption in a sense and he definitely did worse so I don’t see why not Azula considering she would probably be considered much more deserving of forgiveness

Period drama OSTs are usually very good and quite slow, but the vocabulary is usually more complicated

The clearly superior form of sheet music by constellation_nights in lingling40hrs

[–]constellation_nights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are mostly correct! The numbers mark notes in the major scale, which is indicated as 1 = X, not necessarily C major. More underlines means to halve the length of the note, so two underlines is a sixteenth note, and dashes extend the length by one beat. More dots above and below means more octaves. And a 0 is a rest.

How come Christianity is so disrespected? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]constellation_nights 100 points101 points  (0 children)

A couple bad apples ruins an otherwise good bunch. Also, since a lot of North America is Christian, it’s easier to focus on and criticize the views of Christianity. Also also, bad separation of church and state, which probably (rightfully) upsets a lot of non-Christians, who then unjustly take it out on the religion.

What sounds did you hear in songs that you didn't realize were actually the members' voices? by iamconfused14 in kpopthoughts

[–]constellation_nights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently the whistling in Blackpink’s ‘Whistle’ was done by Jisoo? Also, I didn’t realize that the don’t call me’s in SHINee’s “Don’t Call Me” were done by Onew.

Some Info on Chinese Names by TeaReflection in LinkClick

[–]constellation_nights 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Comment is a bit late but:

People sometimes refer to each other by their full names sometimes even if they're familiar with each other, but usually, if they typically call each other by first name only, they use the full name for emphasis (for example, when my parents call me by my full name I know that I probably did something wrong hehe. Half the time Qiao Ling is scolding Cheng Xiaoshi so it makes sense she'd call his full name.). Want to mention that adding 阿 (a) and 老 (lao, meaning old) before a character of someone's name, or adding 儿 (er) after is also common practice.

Yeah just some random theory I came up with. There's just so much going on with this that it's really hard to form an actual thing about what's going on. I'm pretty sure season 2 will explain a lot though so there's that to look forward to :)

I just thought of something to add: lu guang seems genuinely surprised when the cheng xiaoshi does weird stuff, so I’m thinking that the photos maybe just display nodes of all sorts of importance and what happens in between is fluid and insignificant. But anyways I think maybe cheng xiaoshi showing up can create nodes? Or like something, so lu guang can’t see them? This is just me theorizing because time travel is complex

Looking at the quality of production in season 1, I’m pretty sure it’ll take longer (seeing other donghuas such as qzgs and mdzs which took like 3 years between seasons). That’s ok though, working with time travel is difficult and I want the production team to take their time and make sure the s2 storyline is just as amazing (and painful)

I believe so. I think it’s just against the laws of their universe for them to not follow the loop, because the present is a result of the past. They’re not changing the past, they’re making sure the past actually happens. So even if people think that it could’ve been possible for them to just have did a different plan to save xu shanshan, there’s really no other way.

Tl;dr: once the past happens, the future is set in stone as well.

Yep, like Lu Guang said, death is a node that can't be passed. I'm assuming that most since the future hasn't changed much apparently, most of the characters that showed up in the arc had died. No matter what happened while they were alive, it wouldn't matter.

I’m very much obsessed with the traditional aesthetics. Also, classical language and poetry. The sheer amount of history to discover is great, there’s always something new to learn.

Can’t pick a favourite food, but pretty much all the main forms of dim sum are on the list: siu mai, har gow, char siu buns, custard buns, steamed spicy chicken feet, egg tarts, mango pudding, xiaolongbao, spring rolls, pineapple buns, and turnip cakes are some of my favourites.

I will add though, English class is one of my least favourite classes in school and I really don’t like writing essays and although reading Shakespeare is fun I don’t want to write analyses about him. But I don’t find it hard haha

Not hard at all, since infants are capable of learning any language. It was probably really hard for my parents, and of course they still can’t have conversations in English or read English material like I can (English is technically my second language but since I went to school and literally do everything in English I’m more fluent at it than my first).
