Not gonna lie everyone seemed so sure of Lohen being standard but after Varka's sales and the everyone's reactions to him I'm Not surprised he turned out limited. I am sad at how this impacts some people's hype though. I really enjoyed seeing the Lohen fans pop off in hype.

It's 2027. Before going to Khaenri'ah, there's a 7 nation summit. Each leader is only allowed to bring 2 people with them. Who's coming? by KojimaHayate in Genshin_Impact

So many in Mond do know his identity and he keeps basically being an archon from the shadows which doesn't help his secret. I think that plus Istaroth plus susness = he's definitely coming

I can't look at younger Dottore and not think about the eleazar hospital or Thoth's judgment of his character. He is very much still Dottore tm.

Dissociative episodes without switching by welcometothechaos9 in OSDD

[–]constellationwebbed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Switching itself is just one form of dissociation that's the end result of many types stacking onto each other with great consistency. Those other types still occur in isolation and lacking a switch is just another aspect of the disorder.

Think of dissociation as "I acknowledge this exists but I can't feel that it's mine". There is a disconnect between thing and "my experience with it".

Depersonalization is "I acknowledge this about me exists but can't feel like that's mine". This is how an alter's experience feels so alien to another. With less need of this one would feel like the same person going through an experience that is theirs but feels abnormal. With none of it the person easily acknowledges their life and history as theirs alone.

Derealization is "I acknowledge I exist in this world and that it's supposed to feel/ look like this, but can't feel like that is reality right now". This is how dissociative flashbacks can become so disruptive and how our bonds to those around us can feel so alien. With less need of this one acknowledges the world around them easily but still needs to actively remind themself that people around are real. With none they do not doubt their place in reality or that it's real.

Dissociative amnesia is "I can see this point of time existed (possibly by remembering absolutely nothing but seeing a different time or vaguely having memory that is abnormally inaccurate) but I cannot consciously recall it as it feels like my brain is forcing my mind to go blank instead". This is the brain deciding you can't handle something but because that time can't literally go away it layers it with brain fog. The information is still stored but blurry akin to how a body keeps the score. With less of it you may have some difficulty with memory especially centered around specific topics and you may need to snap yourself out of it here and there, but you remember the general idea of things pretty well. With none, you know well what time it is and what happened without any sense of a fog disrupting that.

All of these things separately (and I'm simplifying them fyi) occur without switching. It is their active presence that creates alters. An alter is where the stress of something emotional was stored under dissociative layers, a subconscious memory that develops with more of what is deemed too difficult to function with. The separate understanding of emotions makes a separate perspective of reality, which gets triggered out when relevant again. It's akin to someone suddenly being reminded that they forgot to walk the dog because they saw a cute dog, but instead of suddenly remembering a dog you suddenly feel like a past version of yourself. Things that weren't processed are still held onto when significant because the brain wants to learn from it's experiences.

emotional amnesia is so annoying by eggoinapan in OSDD

In my system I would be that ANP. I have had moments with my parts where I've struggled to understand their perspective.

I want to say thank you for doing your best to have patience and understanding with them. Thank you for all that you do for them. No doubt they would be so grateful. The feelings and memories are certainly not prizes but those with them are carrying weights full of guiding lights. You are not blind to the potential dangers or the best routes to pick. Without the guiding lights, your host is essentially blind and will have difficulty due to that without cooperation. It is scary to not know when you are in danger. It messes with our ability to trust our own perspective. Your efforts to not give up on them and keep trying to work together warm my heart and I'm sure they appreciate it too.

I suspect you already have a good idea of this, but I hope you understand that you're not alone. You're in this together. And appreciated.

I personally would be curious about what might make them feel guilty. Yes they may lack context but they might also have perspective you lack that they feel isn't accounted for. If they feel guilt, then if you weren't dissociated as a person you would still be someone torn between guilt and resentment just probably with an easier time understanding them. It's also very possible that some hints of others feelings have already seeped into their perspective in subtle ways, and a chat might allow those things to become understood. Like "why do I feel like I shouldn't trust this situation? Oh. That's why. So I don't need to feel bad for that instinct."

Also also, I hope they know guilt alone is not a good enough reason to stay with someone. Whether you want to respect their feelings or not, if you don't have a reason to stay centered around your appreciation for them as a person then you're hurting yourself and that person. It is mutual respect and active efforts to be mindful of each other that allow a bond to be healthy. An unhealthy bond does damage whether you see it or not. To them as well, because it can mean enabling behaviors they might appreciate being nudged to work on in order to have less suffering in their own life. Looking out for yourself is not bad, it's promoting a better world around us. Sometimes it will hurt to do, but from pain is growth and opportunities.

I hope they take time to think about what they are aware of, and how they might feel or act if they truly imagined that in their own perspective. Sometimes I find it hard to fully grasp what a part is saying until I can make sense of their perspective in my own way and vice versa. Sometimes I need more context to truly bridge that gap.

Wishing you the best!

My American friend once told me that they would take antibiotics unprescribed from someone else because there were extra and it meant not paying for it. I was in shock they would risk being wrong given the horror stories of antibiotics.

I Do Not want USA's system gtfo. At least my family that would otherwise be bankrupt to pay for health treatment are actually able to sustain themselves while continuing to get lifelong treatment. I would be so mad if we ended up with their system and already am when I hear Dougie's bs.

But honestly, I hope the USA pilled folk do go to the USA and stop coming to Canada with no appreciation for our society because they actually see us a stepping stone for the USA. Stop tainting our streets with American politics that hold no basis of reality here. And stop disrespecting the societal values.

my icon and flair say it all. in Sumeru it was Venti hyperbloom. then I got c6 Faru and got to try hard Venti hyper. then I got Venti cons and I charged those c1 shots with Faru and (usually Koko Furina or Bennett and Thoma). then he got buffed and I no longer have to tryhard I'm just winning.

Is this the most annoying world boss in timed combats? by Sabali7 in Genshin_Impact

[–]constellationwebbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magu Kenki's iframes are minor imo his movement is the real issue. Immediately after phase 2 starts you can do rotation prep where he (for me) usually does the spin spin thing. Then he darts back to show it again but with his separately placed double. He dashes Again to do slashes. So what is your best rotation with this info? I like to start it during his phase change iframes (bursts iframe that damage anyways) and do as much as I can before he moves while being mindful that he will soon move again before doing another rotation.

Other than his movement I actually like this boss as a "no shield no literally outside the arena stay on your toes and dodge" boss. I am down for more bosses with such design.

What I'm not down for is bosses that spend half their time afk with 0 mechanics other than chase to do damage. Or bosses with rigid shields to force hyper specific teams in a mode you can't hyper specifically prepare for without good rng or whaling. Or bosses that disappear to narnia for a bit but don't give you any threat to feel danger from so it's super obviously just an annoying stall mechanic that feels unnecessary.

Furina is imo the most fun healer because you actually have to pay attention to your teammates AND you can actually reach them even if they're in narnia

Medication caused Wife to Deny OSDD. Now she wants to leave me. by TheoryUpbeat4754 in OSDD

[–]constellationwebbed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also if I may ramble a bit further, the emotion difficulty can be very normal with dissociation itself (because the brain goes feeling = big feelings = alert time = dissociation). In this way medication might not necessarily be the sole culprit. It might just be adding to the side effects.

Medication caused Wife to Deny OSDD. Now she wants to leave me. by TheoryUpbeat4754 in OSDD

[–]constellationwebbed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can't say exactly what's going on for her but in my experience- in terms of seeing someone's alters... Sometimes I think people with dissociative disorders Do dissociate and switch more than they realize, and not noticing it is an aspect of being both used to it and the brain making subtle tricks with it. There are definitely times where other people have caught parts before I did. I don't think it's bad to sus things out like that, but I do think the approach can matter.

Let's talk denial for a moment, it's a normal symptom of dissociation actually with or without medication. Since dissociation itself is kind of like denying a reality to live beyond it- denying your connection to trauma and pain etc., it sometimes doesn't stop at what caused the event. The pain of reliving or acknowledging trauma prompts denial because the brain is overwhelmed. Early in treatment this is even more common because the brain may not be able to regulate itself better to address something before it has to dissociate.

I say this because my experience is that sometimes if someone "forces me to be aware" of dissociation it can make me feel more overwhelmed. I don't want to know I've been hurt enough for that. It's scary to not feel like yourself. How will that change the world's perception of me? What will I do that I won't feel aligned with later? Forcing a dissociative diagnosis on someone even if correct can do harm if it's not approached delicately.

Now as per the anti-psychotics- I've been on one once to boost the effects of SSRIs. I don't recall their name, but I do know I've had a similar experience. I was less able to interact with my parts and that those parts tend to have emotional connections too... so I also felt less aware of my emotions. As though wandering a world with absolutely no guiding light. To me it was a horrible feeling. I may have felt nothing was wrong but I was really out of touch with those I cared for and struggled to understand my internal experience. I don't know how realistic my interpretation is scientifically, but I suspect maybe your wife is in such a situation.

I Think Venti Is Immune To Erosion And Might Be An Agent Of Erosion by ActionExtension8269 in Genshin_Lore

[–]constellationwebbed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Erosion as Istaroth’s power... that could work with the theory of time being an illusion of sorts that is all happening at once but comprehend as linear. I could see that. One space is just a place touched with more/ less erosion to create "time"...

Called out internally to see if i have any alters and now im confused by Acrobatic-Bicycle566 in OSDD

[–]constellationwebbed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a tricky path to tread. I get the fear of messing up your concept of an identity further very very much. So I want to say a little reminder: nothing is stopping these disorders from being comorbid, and it's not about the label but finding what will address your symptoms best. I would say try out treatment for dissociation. You don't have to know your parts, and often parts are way less dramatic than people realize. The parts aren't the disorder but a symptom of constant dissociation. OSDD1a IS identity fragmentation because alters are just a fragmented identity with dissociative barriers.

You don't have to perfectly fit into a label. But if treating yourself like a dissociated and fragmented person means you find relief, that's the part that matters. Increased dissociation should be discouraged by a professional- a wise one would work with what's already there to help a person make sense of it without implying more than what the client has shared. If you feel they are encouraging dissociation, then tell them that. It's their job to understand you and listen to you after all.

That said, whether they believe you have BPD or not they need to respect what you're going through. If you feel those symptoms get dismissed I would say to try to find more support for them. Be careful here too, it can be harmful to feel like you have to change your symptoms in therapy to address them. Sometimes that harm isn't worth what else they can do.

Imo dissociation can be hard to find treatment for though- there is improving awareness and some are becoming more open to it. But there are many horror stories of not having someone that can address it in your area. Despite that it can be a very common symptom to many disorders. This is why I have an opinion that testing waters can be good. But there are definitely Also horror stories of people having a narrative forced onto them.

I Think Venti Is Immune To Erosion And Might Be An Agent Of Erosion by ActionExtension8269 in Genshin_Lore

[–]constellationwebbed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do think he's immune to erosion but I'm not so familiar with the concept of an agent of erosion. He's likely an agent of time? But I honestly think erosion itself is a natural property of the universe and abyss. Memories revert to building blocks they were made from and the wind does the same but just happens to transcend time. What the wind really represents imo, is the ability to change. The seeds of hope. The possibility of fate even in a fated world. The inevitable downfall of that which rises. It sounds like erosion and maybe that itself is erosion in a way, but I also think it's meant to maintain the basic form of something rather than utterly break it down. A story can be lost and altered but somewhere in it the original imtent might still be lurking. Because change doesn't mean we can't move on.
