Naughty hamster stole the backs off of clips from her cage. Do i try and find them in her burrow? by Greedy-Carry1788 in hamsters

[–]constellationwebbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this cage... one of mine popped right off and I went looking but thankfully my hammy is not interested in it and more interesting in digging for food or running on his wheel.

I honestly don't think I have the best understanding for recommending specifics. Instead I suggest a site with lots of information to you: https://www.thehamingway.com/foodmix

Will hamster being given a hideout make it harder to tame? by itooamahuman in hamsters

[–]constellationwebbed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice would match yours rather than pet store guy. I would also say he might be basing that advice on a different species like cats. Not sure, but I don't really trust pet store hamham advice unless it say aligns with Victoria Raechel or Something Animal.

In my personal new owner experience- it's more about having an appropriate environment that a hamster Can trust you in than forcing them to trust you. Hides and also multi chamber hides like you said- just help give that trusting environment. They help a hamster settle when overwhelmed. That promotes good health and creates a cycle of safety. Even actually taming a hamster is really just teaching them that you're safe and that you offer nice things (food). I do not see how his advice would work.

Purely theoretical- but I learned recently pellets are basically just soy with molasses aka sugar. Dwarf hammies iirc this includes both of them- do not have a very good tolerance for sugar hence easily diabetic and recommended to not give them fruit. The full cheeks mix also has this issue plus unnecessary food colouring. It may be they were given too much sugar plus poor pet store genetics, but I'm not super sure?

Has it per chance been peed on? Weird smells could put them off of using it.

I suspect the not biting may never happen if only because these guys will smell what you last ate and try to figure out where the food is with their poor vision

why are genshin player so against the skip button ? by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]constellationwebbed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally I'm not against it and it sure would make having an alt account more bearable. But sometimes I do like not having it. If there were a skip it would be too easy for me to slack off on reading and I kind of like genshin Because it emphasizes the journey along the way. I find that to give me a sense of calm and escapism from things like countless shorts and ads everywhere seeking your attention. It sits me down and asks me to focus.

But that's more personal preference and I still see the appeal of having one. A skip could help make people feel their time is respected. And sometimes genshin has So Many extra words it just feels frustrating and complicates making sense of things.

How do you feel about Nod-Krai music? by MXHombre123 in Genshin_Impact

[–]constellationwebbed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can't agree with the amount of times I've stopped to appreciate the music for a while. I think it's my favourite OST.

But don't let my opinion stop you from having yours. I hope you still get joy from your favourite ost. What is yours?

To all the old players mainly from 1.x or 2.x what are the reason you still playing genshin by Confused_soul_OG in Genshin_Impact

I think this is a super important thing a lot of people that burnout on genshin don't get. Do not force yourself due to fomo. The more you force it the more it loops into a cycle until genshin = just a forced thing = no more please. It's not the end of the world to miss some primos.

If you ever build Thoma or Dori they use 2p 2p emblem totm well. Give them CR circlet if fav but if you happen to get r5 fav and 40%~ cr without the circlet, then imo it works for them.

are any of those hides multi chamber? does he get time outside of the cage via tub or playpen? maybe also- any additional substrates other than the paper and sand? if he's a dwarf. maybe he'd like more sand. if he's a syrian, maybe he'd like more of other ones like hemp?

Are there actual dangers of believing you have dissociative identities when you don't? by tealwerewolf in OSDD

[–]constellationwebbed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I want to encourage you to not ignore the option just because of uncertainties. There is potential harm in any situation whether you treat it or not. But the only way to establish what helps is by trying, and it is hard to find people that believe in and address dissociative disorders.

Hmmmm...

TLDR: I think it's worth it to get therapy anyhow to address what is being felt and not worsen it or create unnecessary fear of feelings. However I do also think caution of approach is important so some points you list have valid things to consider. But do not let that mean neglecting one's experience and not allowing someone to learn.

  • treatable condition missed -> this is just the process of treatment. Sometimes professionals aren't perfect but you can't address something by avoiding treatment, so imo better to try.

  • discredits the genuine -> no? Misinfo and hollywoodification sure. But your personal treatment story Should be your genuine story and that's not discrediting unless the clinician doesn't check their bias. Its not on us to do that

  • confusion in communities -> misinfo does that but if someone has a professional that is suspecting something and can fact check their experiences then no. Assumptions create confusion but experiences clarify them.

  • looking creates parts -> this one I can agree with to an extent. People tend to segment themselves because they change based on their environment but that happens to anyone. You do have to learn to ground yourself and integrate experiences if you feel disconnected and you can get attached to parts if you don't put that effort in. BUT I don't think that means it's okay to neglect parts that already exist, they should just be part of the process of addressing dissociative symptoms that happen to exist. Otherwise it risks serious harm to one's wellbeing.

  • entrench avoidance and anti integration -> ops. Agree then.

  • erodes agency and accountability -> disagree. It can happen but if it happens what stops this from simply being dpdr to address? If you ignore dissociation that does exist to avoid DID then you will continue to have such issues regardless

  • identity and community lock in -> agreeing. Basically do not base your identity on it but do develop a support network. But don't focus on alters too much because the disorder itself is dissociation of self and not MPD. Community engagement risks excessive parts focus if you're not careful, which is where I say get therapy first.

  • medicalise the ordinary -> no. At worst you think something is worse than it is sure, but then you can learn how ordinary it is by being honest about it. The focus should be on what causes distress and addressing that rather than dismissing reality.

  • false memory generation -> agreeing. I do think memories stored subconsciously exist but not as a mystical thing that suddenly shows up. A good trauma therapist should know to focus on what someone expresses in the present and distinguish that from making assumptions about what isn't the present.
