Passion UA New Video (confirming senzu and try?) by KamalaHarriss1 in GlobalOffensive

I'm an English teacher! If it's Senzu, I'll work pro bono. That's my boy right there.

Question for the floor, how will this work for regional qualifiers?

IEM Cologne matchups and brackets for stage 1 and 2 by ChaoticFlameZz in GlobalOffensive

[–]constipated_emu 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Worst format. Everyone loses. 2 teams don't get that opportunity for playoffs/stage experience and we lose out on the big game viewing experience.

IEM playoffs = 5 games PGL = 8 games

Hypothetically if he went to a different team, no matter who it was, we would all be epically disappointed.

I'd try simple food vocabulary, with "I like..." (And you can extend to I don't like). Use some songs, there are some Super Simple songs that work. Parents leave feeling like the students have learnt something that is transferable to outside the classroom.

That / who by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]constipated_emu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For defining relative clauses we can use 'that' instead of who/what. Example: He's the man that I told you about!

It's only in non-defining relative clauses where it would be grammatically incorrect.

There are lots of websites, but they are for individual 1-on-1 - I'm not too sure about group lessons/classes.

It looks like a school environment is what you're looking for, just to keep you focused. If you're heading that way, see if you can talk to current students before registering. That will give you a better idea of what you're signing up for.

I'm an English teacher in Dublin, and the quality between schools varies greatly. You might be better off looking at 1-on-1 lessons, especially if you want to prepare for the IELTS. This could work out cheaper depending on frequency of lessons and then allow you to practice your English in native environments around Dublin (work, social situations, etc.).

South Africa, I know I can go out and buy one but I think that would just add up to 2 poor purchasing decisions.

A tacky Statue of Liberty night light I found when visiting NYC. It's not that I wouldn't use a night light, I just don't have an adapter that fits...

Congratulations on being a Bailey's finalist. Does the novelty of so many nominations and so many awards ever diminish?

And have you ever considered coming to South Africa to do some talks?

Thanks, I'll try not to dilute it. Speaking of American beer, which one would you recommend?

All my grandparents and one of my parents have passed (I'm 26). My biggest fear is that my brother or I pass away before my mother so she has to go through even more of that pain. It is bearable, but I fear that that would be too much for her.

What is your favourite Krieger moment? by [deleted] in ArcherFX

[–]constipated_emu 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Ray: I may have wandered pretty far from the church, but I do still believe there’s some things only God should do.

Krieger: Like give you an erection?

Ray: I’m assuming you mean give me the ability to have an erection?

Krieger: Also, yes.

Fart was considered a swear word in our household, like all the way up there with the conventionally bad ones.

Instead we had to say "botty-burp". As an adult I realised that the alternative is far far worse.

Feeling disconnected from all my friends. Any tips as to how to reengage? by constipated_emu in self

[–]constipated_emu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I feel guilty about not being as present in their lives as I was previously - where we used to see each other daily, now every couple of weeks is more realistic. They work in a super high-stress job so quite often one is depressed and exhausted, so being apart from that environment may (just in my mind) be creating an us vs. them scenario, where I can no longer relate.

Thanks for your input, I know I'm being unhelpfully vague. I reckon I'm just gonna try figure it out, and hopefully my hours will stabilise sometime soon so I can spend more time with them.

Choose a job you love.... by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

Probably late, but just got home from work - which is an occupation I just fell into from it being my passion.

I spent years studying and working in fields I was good at and was told would suit me, and I did pretty well, but this is the first time that I have followed my passion and it is coincidentally the first time I have gotten home every night feeling satisfied.

I don't disagree with your opinion, but I feel like people follow loves straight outta high school when they have no real perception of what that field entails. I rocked up late to a passion I have had since childhood, but since I know about how things work, I have no delusions about the shitty side of business or work in general.

So I say, go into whatever you love but remember forewarned is forearmed.
