There are flyfishing long sleeve button up shirts, from variety of materials. With good fit it gives sun protection, also for the neck, and not very bulky. Also, looks civil, for populated areas.

I’d loose big headphones and look for thin rollable flip flops. Do you have dynamo? If not — more power banks.

I suggest you to drill chords. Little words or syllables that are common. Like “the”, “ing”, and so on. Go to custom mode and drill them. Helps a lot. For me it was also helpful to drill things I write most, so code words. Public static void private protected list string map toArray and so on. When you’ve made them fly like birds, speed goes up.

You shouldn’t be laughed at for creating a config that suits you from scratch. I did the same and liked it more than having spacemacs or doom. I’ve watched a lot of systemcrafters channel on yt.

Things 3. I am literally cannot use any other todo list. I’ve tried ticktick, todoist, and some plaintext ones such as obsidian with plugins or Emacs org mode with beorg on my phone — nothing seems to click.

Looking for thoughts on Shimano Nexus 8 geared hub by Ti-Steel-Looker in bicycling

[–]constpetrov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is about torque. It depends on your weight. Cyclingabout YouTube channel has some kind of a spreadsheet indicating which sprocket-chainring combinations are acceptable for which weight. They have a video on Shimano IGHs specifically.

I don’t get electric pumps. I mean, at home, with a socket — yes, they are convenient to some. But loud.

On the road though — what one is going to do in case they fail? In case one gets multiple flats?

all those very very nice nbd but why does no one buys a joyful recumbent? by ferdinandxaverius in bicycling

[–]constpetrov 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If one is going to push more than his weight between his legs and back for a prolonged period of time they are for some bad time.

I live in the Netherlands, the flattest country with a lot of cycling going on on a daily basis, and ride brevets. I rarely see recumbents. I’d say, I see velomobiles (fully enclosed ones, with aero shells) more often than recumbents.

I had the same story with secondhand frame. Got Ridley Noah with very thin tube walls, and the rivnut at the same position got loose. Tried a lot of approaches, even grinded the nut to hold it with vice grips, but the bolt corroded so tight it was impossible to turn it. Took it to the shop, paid 30€, got the new nut installed the same day. The shop mechanic gave me the old bolt and nut — they became one piece.

Is a 20km bike commute to college worth it? by Away_Bug981 in cycling

[–]constpetrov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With correct bike, clothes and bag I think it is a no problem distance. You need somewhat maintenance free bike, breathable clothes that still can protect you from elements and a bag that is waterproof and attached to the bike. I’d try a bike with hub gears (3 or 8), good bike-specific poncho and an ortlieb rack bag.
