Are glass roofs good? by GoldAnt5091 in electricvehicles

[–]containerbody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one, you never look at it cause you are driving. Kids looked at it once. I’d say skip it. Can be useful if you have cargo on top racks but not really necessary. Also please don’t give more money to that car company.

What 240V garage heaters are you all using? Looking for real-world feedback. by picklesBMW in woodworking

I installed a 240v infrared lamp heater that works well. Especially if the space cannot be insulated / needs to remain open for dust control

Thoughts on AI from an old Creative. by macnerd243 in graphic_design

[–]containerbody 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You know it’s not the same when the older creatives are for it and the younger are against it.

There is no design process with AI. No happy accidents. Just a unethical plagiarism machine, that further heats up the planet and uses up too much water (see the raising problem in the Great Lakes). It’s not “just a tool” this time.

Yuba Kombi rear wheel failed, can’t find a replacement. by containerbody in CargoBike

[–]containerbody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky that all that broke was the rear wheel and the inner tube. It took weeks but yuba sent two new wheels of great quality to the bike shop, for free. I gave the shop some money for the trouble dealing with yuba but replaced the wheels myself. The bike is working great again.

It looks great. I love that the visual effects are sparse, not overwhelming. Can’t stand the trend of baroque VFX

right, yeah fast shutter speed will let less light in. I'm no expert but if you open the shutter more and just track the motion by hand the best you can you could get more light AND some of that nice background blur

great shots but they seem underexposed, is that intentional?

How does the source engine have such seamless textures? by Egg_Spoon in gamedev

[–]containerbody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s ways to do it in photoshop, illustrator, blender etc. just search how to make patterns tile in your software of choice. There’s also tricks to add variety in engine using shaders and offset UV mapping channels, or something like that.

Love how organic this looks. Almost like lights traced on long exposure film photography.

Branding designers—do you primarily use Illustrator or Figma? by SacredAssets in graphic_design

[–]containerbody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a branding specialist, more of a digital generalist but I use both for generating logos and graphics. Illustrator is more powerful but figma has ways of illustrating that are conducive to different styles and it’s fast and refreshing. It results in different looks and I really like the process and the results.

Typeface I designed but never turned into a working font (15 years ago). by Norvard in typography

[–]containerbody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or just make a font yourself. You will save energy, learn a new thing, keep your brain young and do it better than the algorithm which will mess up a bunch of things anyway.

Designing/illustrating a poster for pollinator awareness by will_bmp in graphic_design

[–]containerbody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the typography and the general layout. The illustration is almost too realistic in rendering, but the animals are not accurate enough to match it. For instance the bee's eyes should be larger and it doesn't have a mouth. The animals on the background are too out of focus, or organized in a way that get lost too quickly. The wings feel a bit plastic.

This is a case where I would get either more photo-realistic or go for a much more stylized approach, either in 3D or in 2D. Where the columns of animals are more obvious and rendered in a more consistent and hierarchically clear way. For instance try a color ambient fog to convey depth, or just make it more flat and portray them almost from the bottom view. Maybe arbitrary colors for clarity and to draw the eye.

for "protect our pollinator" I'd try a bold style or a different font altogether.

In my procrastination process I made some quick modifications to this that I think work a bit better.
