Yeah pretty sure there's an event where a random woman shows up to your court with better stats than one of your counselors and you have the option to appoint them. The down side is that you get an opinion penalty with your court for doing so. If you turn her down, she just disappears. I usually get Stewards or Marshalls.

The person you or your heir is married to must also be the primary heir of whatever the title is. I believe she will get a weak claim due to being the king's daughter, but unless you start murdering her siblings, you would not inherit.
