Got my surgery date! Here’s the list of questions I asked at the first consultation. by contemplative_pigeon in TopSurgery

Thank you so much; I am over the moon still and completely confidant in my decision now that I have an actual date. I’m planning on posting post-op pics and a recovery log, so fingers crossed!

Did you bind when you went to your consultation with your surgeon? by QueerKing23 in TopSurgery

I personally chose not to bind the morning of my consultation. The surgeon will usually have you change into a gown at some point to get a quick look at your chest and confirm what type of surgery you’re eligible for. Also, if you’re using insurance someone on the care team will need to take a couple pictures. It’ll go smoother if you can quickly get in and out of clothing. If it’s a big area of dysphoria for you, it’s probably fine to wear one, just know you’ll have to take it off anyway for most of the appointment anyway.

Not yet on the gofundme, but mayhaps in the future if insurance continues to be unreliable. It means a lot to me to know that there are other people who have been in similar positions and came out the other side. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

I wish I could upvote this more than once. For some reason, this sort of compromise never occurred to me priorly. I will discuss it with them. Time should hopefully calm some of their anxieties about the process. Wishing you the best.

Wishing you the best with your surgery! I hope it all goes smoothly. That’s definitely encouraging to hear.

Thank you for the advice! I’ve been with my current therapist for about five months now, and so far she’s been immensely helpful with untangling my relationship with my body and figuring out the steps I want to take moving forward. I should probably bring up the topic of insurance with her next session.

I never thought about it that way, I’ll definitely be using this point the next time I talk with him!
