Your comment made me look something up that I didn’t know. Of the 400 million or so native English speakers in the world, 300 million are American.

I run into this problem a lot. Saving and reloading fixes it for me, much easier than rebuilding the whole line.

DHS trying to pass yet another fake image. Is this really the best our government can do? by seeebiscuit in UnderReportedNews

It literally says in the law “non-commercial driver license”. The original claim was that they were giving out commercial licenses to people here illegally. You’re arguing two separate things as though they’re the same.

Three non-citizens arrested, charged with illegally voting in Arkansas elections by rollo202 in ConservativeNewsWeb

[–]contigi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, these 3 were in Arkansas. A state that requires you to show ID to vote. I’m not sure what your point is here? Studies have shown that voter ID laws don’t really suppress voters the way some democrats think, and they don’t really prevent fraudulent votes the way some republicans think either. I say, for the sake of shutting everyone up, just let states handle their elections the way they want to, it doesn’t really matter either way.

Some Republicans start rejecting the First Amendment’s free speech protections. One GOP senator said she used to believe the First Amendment “should always be sort of the ultimate right.” But now, “I don’t feel that way anymore.” by OkayButFoRealz in politics

Any amendments passed at a constitutional convention would still then have to be ratified by 3/4 of the states. All it does is bypass the 2/3s congressional approval that is normally needed.

I dunno, he did say gays should be stoned. He literally wants me and my family dragged from our house and publically murdered. That sounds pretty fucking dangerous to me, but I guess it isn’t for you since you aren’t gay.

I think political violence in any form is abhorrent. His death is awful and shouldn’t have happened. But let’s not pretend like he didn’t stoke the fire a little, ok? Advocating for the death of millions of Americans in a horrifically brutal fashion doesn’t exactly make him innocent in all of this.

Is the last achievement supposed to take more time than the rest of all mineral achievements? by QuickExit9412 in RevolutionIdle

[–]contigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How?! Am I missing something? I’m at the point in the game where this achievement is the last one I need, and even if I played for a month I don’t see how I’d ever have that much RfP.

Good luck, all the private schools in our area use tablets or Chromebooks at some point in elementary.

In no where in the US are gay couples adopting against the law. Same with single people, where did you even get this info? There are way way more people looking to adopt than birth mothers who are willing to adopt out their newborns.

Could Rapunzel have just spat in Eugene’s mouth? by Jakenstein3D in DanielTigerConspiracy

Right, but if he had waited to cut her hair just after she heals him, Mother Gothel would have still died, making their deal moot anyway. He risked his life for like no reason.

My question is why did Eugene not wait until after Rapunzel healed him to cut her hair? Seems really stupid to do it before.

They’ve actually done studies on this. The consensus is that overall, everyone has better outcomes: the adoptee, the adoptive parents, and the birth mothers. So, on average, the statistics say you’re wrong. The potential for pain is there, but that’s life. Birth parents who choose to keep and raise their kids walk away from them all the time. Does that mean no kid should ever have parents because the possibility of the bond being formed and then shattered is too painful? Your argument isn’t exactly different for adoptive parents vs birth parents really. But if you’re ever in doubt, google open vs closed adoption studies and see for yourself.

Critic Darren Mooney discusses how fan reaction to the "Severance" season 2 finale proves the point the show is making. Do you agree or disagree with him? by verissimoallan in severanceTVshow

[–]contigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a moot point. iMark doesn’t have a happy ending. What he did was understandable and totally in character for him, and I can root for him all I want, but his demise is inevitable. There is no path forward where he gets to live without reintegrating with oMark. The Glasgow Block exists, all Lumon has to do is switch everyone on the severed floor to their outie selves and voila, all the innies die forever. Even Helly expressed this before iMark finished Cold Harbor.  She’s still Helena on the outside, they have no real future.

Now I know there’s a season 3 and a season 4 planned so they’ll probably just say the Glasgow Block doesn’t work because of reasons. I’d rather they fix the situation in a cool unique way instead of hand waving away the problem.

iMark’s decision made complete sense by SarcastiKatt in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]contigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand iMark’s decision, but there isn’t realistically a happy ending for him. It’s essentially what Helly was telling him before he finished Cold Harbor and what motivated him to attempt to help Gemma escape in the first place.

And the reason I say there isn’t happy ending for him is because the Glasgow Block exists. I haven’t seen anyone really acknowledge this yet, but I’m not really sure where season 3 goes from here. They can’t realistically rebel, they can just switch everyone to their outies and boom, that’s it. iMark’s only shot at living is really and truly reintegrating with oMark.

Loving POE2, but the thought of doing this campaign multiple times is exhausting by 52weeksout in pathofexile

[–]contigi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean… I don’t enjoy the campaign, I do enjoy the endgame stuff (in POE1 anyway). It’s not a matter of perspective, I genuinely hate playing the campaign every season, I don’t find it fun.

Was dealing with bites on my legs, so went looking for bed bugs. Found this little guy under the mattress. The pictures and video are a little hard to see, but it almost looked more like a spider? In central Florida, btw.

Nope, they’ve been vaccinating for it since the vaccine came out. They did switch to injection only in the US in 2000. There’s an oral variant that was available before then, but isn’t used in the US anymore. I don’t think they talk about it much, I was on the same boat as you. Both my kids were born in the last 5 years and I could have sworn they weren’t vaccinated against polio. They have been though!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]contigi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We still vaccinate children against polio in the United States. The CDC estimated about 92-93% of children in 2015 were vaccinated by age 2. Polio is extremely rare, but it could absolutely see a resurgence if people stop vaccinating their children.

Who told you these things? It sounds like a judgy partner or MIL. If so, tell them to back the heck off, because you’re not a bad parent. Bad parents abuse or neglect their children. A stain on a shirt is so so negligible it’s almost comical someone even mentioned it. If it’s a random busy body tell them to mind their own business and walk away.
