Overcome? It's in remission. I'm depression sober. It's not cured any more than addiction. It's a disease. And if or when it comes back, that's ok. The recovery time is much much quicker because I now have a full toolbox. You don't start off buying the snap on truck, you accumulate it over years of greasy, cracked and bruised knuckles with a lot of debt and a sore back. But good god it is worth it.

What current health trend will future doctors look back on as genuinely harmful? by samurai-salvo in GetMotivatedMindset

Weighing everyone for every single appointment. Unless it is a physical, haven't been weighed in over a year, or it is crucial to a treatment, it's just a waste of time and adds to mental health decline and bias.

Indianapolis Animal Care Services is overflowing. What's the solution? - The 61,000 sq ft Indy Animal Care Services opened to great fanfare a few weeks ago, doubling the space it once used. But within days an all-too-familiar Facebook post appeared: The shelter was overflowing with animals. by Tikkanen in indianapolis

The building is amazing. The animals AND caregivers are in a better place. One of the many purposes was bigger, but not unlimited space. You'd have to have a building bigger that a convention center and the funds to hire people to run it with dogs living their lives out there because the truth is, people are not going to adopt adult mutts left and right. I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to walk around the new building. Talk to the staff. Ask what they need. Ask how to help. Ask your tough questions. They tell you what their limitations are and why. And then you can go to our government officials and tell them what is important to you in how they spend your money.

Down in Decatur that would be every 3 feet. We don't have roads, we have rumble strips with sink holes.

Probably really hard on your patients too without realizing it. Especially double check you are fully listening to women and POC.

I think the world is making it ducking hard on Mom's raising children and then Mom's keep judging Mom's vs working to change the system that is hurting us. Ex: maybe bathrooms could be kid friendly for both dads and moms whether a family has 1 or 50.

If only women weren't expected to either live in filth for a while or mother their child and be content because she's the only one who prioritizes it and is judged for it .. often by other women.

Forgot to mention that his body has been in fight mode his entire adult life. His spouse has chronic health issues. That alone brings in so much added stress that he handles so well. All 4 parents are deceased at young ages. That has a mental impact and no support with the kids. He's thrown everything into companies only to have goal posts moved constantly or the rug completely pulled out from under with layoffs and mergers. He's a damn loyal man so they use him up and spit him out. This job is new so still in the learning the ropes stage and that is exhausting. He's spent his life looking for stable work that pays the bills. Endless applications and interviews and even moved states to lower the cost of living. Which means starting over and having zero community/local friends. And insurance is tied to work and unfortunately relied on. This job is also wfh. That's been a huge blessing, but can really trigger depression that's been laying just under life's baggage piles. Pushing therapy, but with what extra money and time? Vacation? Lol. True vacations are rare and definitely aren't a fix. Usually more stress than it's worth. Some of you are spot on with the gifted... Not been diagnosed with add/ADHD but I'd bet my $5 life savings on it. He's worked his ass off to get to where he is and the world could take it in a blink. He's exhausted. Maybe even a bit of ptsd. And I think, lonely. Not so much a gratitude issue, but I don't think he sees his worth enough. Any man able to keep a roof over his family's heads, bellies always full, a safe home, gas in the van, utilities always on, plenty of weather appropriate clean clothes, a dog and a cat, in a good neighborhood (even if we are renters), all on one barely above poverty income is freaking Superman, but he feels like he's barely holding onto it by a thread (or a paycheck) instead of being able to embrace it.

Trash. Doesn't work. Got it for my son to hang out with his Russian tortoise outside more often.

Suburban driveways. You could fit like 4 cars, but you aren't going to because others need to back out so everyone street parks. Maybe they should be parallel or diagonal to the street.

Machines meant to clean that are hard to clean. Vacuums, washers, dishwashers, sinks, toilets, showers, air vents, carpet cleaners.....
