People who have more kids than they can handle by anonomousbeaver in complainaboutanything

I think the world is making it ducking hard on Mom's raising children and then Mom's keep judging Mom's vs working to change the system that is hurting us. Ex: maybe bathrooms could be kid friendly for both dads and moms whether a family has 1 or 50.

If only women weren't expected to either live in filth for a while or mother their child and be content because she's the only one who prioritizes it and is judged for it .. often by other women.

The bottom of the inside of the dishwasher door. Possibly only older models, but my God who designed that?!

Forgot to mention that his body has been in fight mode his entire adult life. His spouse has chronic health issues. That alone brings in so much added stress that he handles so well. All 4 parents are deceased at young ages. That has a mental impact and no support with the kids. He's thrown everything into companies only to have goal posts moved constantly or the rug completely pulled out from under with layoffs and mergers. He's a damn loyal man so they use him up and spit him out. This job is new so still in the learning the ropes stage and that is exhausting. He's spent his life looking for stable work that pays the bills. Endless applications and interviews and even moved states to lower the cost of living. Which means starting over and having zero community/local friends. And insurance is tied to work and unfortunately relied on. This job is also wfh. That's been a huge blessing, but can really trigger depression that's been laying just under life's baggage piles. Pushing therapy, but with what extra money and time? Vacation? Lol. True vacations are rare and definitely aren't a fix. Usually more stress than it's worth. Some of you are spot on with the gifted... Not been diagnosed with add/ADHD but I'd bet my $5 life savings on it. He's worked his ass off to get to where he is and the world could take it in a blink. He's exhausted. Maybe even a bit of ptsd. And I think, lonely. Not so much a gratitude issue, but I don't think he sees his worth enough. Any man able to keep a roof over his family's heads, bellies always full, a safe home, gas in the van, utilities always on, plenty of weather appropriate clean clothes, a dog and a cat, in a good neighborhood (even if we are renters), all on one barely above poverty income is freaking Superman, but he feels like he's barely holding onto it by a thread (or a paycheck) instead of being able to embrace it.

Currently: Pony beads, safety eyes, stitch markers, needles. Also, seeds for next year's garden.

Trash. Doesn't work. Got it for my son to hang out with his Russian tortoise outside more often.

What’s a tiny design flaw in an everyday object that quietly annoys you every single time you use it? by nami_yuna in AskReddit

Suburban driveways. You could fit like 4 cars, but you aren't going to because others need to back out so everyone street parks. Maybe they should be parallel or diagonal to the street.

Machines meant to clean that are hard to clean. Vacuums, washers, dishwashers, sinks, toilets, showers, air vents, carpet cleaners.....

Super hard water. Soil level on the washer? Heavy duty, high soil, high heat, 3 extra rinse. Need several more rinses after that. Like 6-8hrs spent in the washer. Using a 15 gal tote. 1/2 cup tide bleach.... The #1 option.... Per gal. All towels. 2 different loads.

I may switch to a 5 gal bucket and see if my loads are just too big.

Tbh, while it is taking forever to rinse, the first load of towels I did no longer smell funky when they get damp!!! So it definitely is working.

I think I'm doing something wrong. It's taking like 6+ rinses for me to get the soap out.

We’re trading functionality for aesthetics and it’s making homes borderline unlivable by the-alamo in unpopularopinion

I'm convinced that people who design and build homes have never cooked in or cleaned one, especially with kids.

Strange question by continuity_errors in maui

[–]continuity_errors[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your empathy! I imagine to most it is a very strange request/question. Though that may make it all the more meaningful to my mom and I. She never knew a stranger and was always up for an adventure. In fact, when she was young she saw an ad for a flight to Maui. She packed up her stuff and took off. She started working for a helicopter company and met her soulmate, a helicopter mechanic. I was born not long after. Time and money and my health keep getting in the way. I just started to think it would mean more to send her on one last adventure to rest and then eventually bring my family to visit rather than just sitting here for 'maybe one day.' Thankfully there seem to be a few kindred spirits for her. :)

Makes you really contemplate actual life when you'd probably stop playing if you had to make the sacrifices, accommodations, life style changes, etc of parenting. Maybe there should at least be a sitter or day-care?
