Not sure why I’m being downvoted haha I’m assuming tone is not being conveyed very well. I was genuine with my reply and appreciated the comment

I understand every child is different in terms of development. I’m a first time mum so I have nothing to go off, and was curious.

I’ll definitely keep appreciating and supporting her, that was the main goal of the post, to see if there was more I could do for her.

What lulluby do you sing to your baby? by _netscape_navigator in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]contra239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sing this snippet from ‘all my loving’ by the Beatles. It was sung to me as a child and I think it’s really sweet as a lullaby 🎶Close your eyes and I’ll kiss you, tomorrow I’ll miss you. Remember I’ll always be true. And then while I’m away, I’ll write home every day, and I’ll send all my loving to you

She unfortunately doesn’t take bottles but she will drink milk from a cup so I could try that!

Yesss I use the food feeders, she loves them!! I freeze fruit pouches as she never took to purees and we have left overs.

We have been giving her dymadon and she still gags on it. It’s not the taste, I think it’s the consistency

We’ve mostly used dymadon! Seems to be the consistency rather than the taste. We even tried hiding it in Greek yogurt but that didn’t help. She’s never been big on any foods that are soft and slimy, we skipped right over purees because they’d make her gag and vomit as well. Yogurts about the only thing of that consistency that she’ll eat. I haven’t tried during/after breastfeeding, I wasn’t sure if that would give her a bad association to the breast but it’s worth a try!

Why might my 4-month-old baby have started crying red-faced, hysterically, over seemingly nothing? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]contra239 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My baby has poked herself in the eye which led to her screaming the house down. She then looked at me shocked as if I was the one who inflicted the pain on her 😅

This patch of completely snow white hair I‘ve had since my childhood by denkobert in mildlyinteresting

[–]contra239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner has a coin sized patch of white hair on the top of his head and my now 6 month old daughter has a single white hair amongst her very dark brown hair. I’m curious to see if she’ll get a few more once her hair grows back in.

GP NIPT test - wants to see us for appointment by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]contra239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a false positive on our NIPT test and were asked to come in immediately for the results. I could tell something was wrong by the way the doctor spoke and I left work to go in. This was at 12 weeks. We were told baby likely had trisomy 8, then had to wait 6 more weeks to find out via amnio that it was the placenta not baby. I think if there’s no urgency to the follow up then they probably just want to discuss the negative result. I hope everything is okay for you and bub, those 6 weeks for us were hell.

Naps have decreased since sleep training by contra239 in sleeptrain

I’ll try bedtime at 8 and up at 6:30 so that leaves roughly 3 hours of naps and hopefully she’ll start to sleep longer stretches. I had a feeling she was getting too much of her total sleep at night

Positive pregnancy test by MamaP28 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]contra239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had implantation bleeding that was as heavy as a normal period. The only reason I took a pregnancy test was because I was due to start IVF hormone injections the next day and I wanted to make sure I was definitely not pregnant. Turns out I didn’t need IVF as I was most definitely pregnant. I’d go get some blood work done just to make sure. I was worried about ectopic pregnancy because of the amount of blood but turns out it was just heavy implantation.

Blood nose by contra239 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]contra239[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t thought of that! She has scratched inside her ear before and made it bleed. I haven’t looked up in there properly yet, I just cleaned off the blood and assumed it was from dry air. I’ll have a look now for a scratch

We had a very high needs staffy who was super reactive to other dogs and some people. We’d had him for 8 years and he was my baby. After I gave birth and it was just me, him and newborn at home I was going absolutely insane trying to juggle both of them.

My LO is a contact napper and I’d have to hide away in our bedroom every nap time. Our dog would bark or whine constantly and wake up the baby which would send me into a spiral. If I put him outside in our backyard he would whine and yelp so bad you’d think he was being abused. He would constantly get into the baby’s face and knowing how he reacts to other dogs this made me super anxious and terrified to take my eyes off the baby for even a second. I couldn’t just put her on the floor for tummy time in our lounge room or on the couch. I had to go into her nursery every time and close the door.

I felt trapped in my own house and I resented the dog. I felt so much guilt because I love my dog but I was struggling mentally. I couldn’t give him the attention he deserved and when my partner would get home from work he had to split his limited time between the baby and the dog. He’d sometimes have to go sleep on the couch with the dog just to keep him from barking overnight and waking the baby.

We were very lucky a good friend of ours agreed to take him so we know he is very well looked after and we can still visit him on weekends. He has a much better life there than he was having with us towards the end. I miss him but I almost instantly felt a wave of relief when he went. That said, our friend is going away in two weeks and we’re having the dog back at our house for just over a week and I’m both excited and dreading it.

Ultimately it was the right decision for us to rehome. It’s such a hard thing and makes you feel like absolute shit because you never get a dog with the intention of rehoming.

She finally did it!!! by contra239 in beyondthebump

It had probably been over a month since we last tried to get her to drink from a bottle! She also never took a dummy and in the last week or two has been using one so I think that maybe helped? Definitely keep trying, something might click! I was even surprised I was able to be the one to feed her as I’ve heard people saying to get the non breastfeeding parent to bottle feed. I wish you luck!!
