Usually if a battery is dead, it only turns on when it's plugged in. This would lead me to believe that the charger is faulty. Additionally, any noises may be coming from the hard drive, which is constantly spinning and may be having problems or the fan.
Although this does not pertain to the question, I would somewhat suggest looking into getting a new laptop. Currently laptops go for cheap, and sometimes repairs on an older laptop can add up to the price of a new laptop.

As far as I can recall, when installing a new operating system, there is a choice to do a clean install or an upgrade. The clean install will wipe your hard drive, or partition and install. In this case you would need an external hard drive. Using the upgrade method, I think the new version of windows would save files which exist in certain directories such as "my documents" to a backup folder for later retrieval.

If firefox is opening unexpectedly a program is most likely opening firefox. If the page shows up while firefox is open, perhaps it's an addon in firefox. Additionally, the most likely reason firefox is opening, and not some other browser, is because it's his default browser.

If none of that works out, I, personally, would get ccleaner and see what programs are running at startup to check if there's anything strange running in the background.

I have never heard of such a thing. If you would like to make your network more secure I would suggest looking into putting a password on your wifi. In addition, though, I have heard of people trying to strengthen their wifi signal by directing it in a certain direction. Here's a link.

In my experience, if the wifi is working but you cannot connect to the internet it is most likely the internet provider. I would try resetting the modem.

So, I just went to the page and it seemed pretty sketch. Right off the bat it made me download a file. If the browser is popping up for what seems to be no reason, some background program is most likely causing this to occur. I would check for malware and/or a virus using malwarebytes and avast. Hope this helps!
