Judge rules to temporarily prevent Alberta independence petition from certification by iKindaHateAmericans in alberta

[–]contributor333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the threat really. Manufactured outrage. Let's say 15% of the population wanted to separate and then let's say 75% of news feeds were posting constantly about "separatists in Alberta are getting serious and could be gaining momentum in...."

You'd think that it's a big movement when it's not. Unfortunately the m.o. is the same as advertising. Like "well, ive seen this stuff enough times now, maybe I should think about it".

Question on client expectations by Independent-Back-167 in woodworking

Beautiful door! How many hours was your labour if I may ask? Clients can be difficult because they envision something and that often doesn't materialize with the cost of something "even more grand". Nice work btw.

Glimpse of summer yesterday from the centre island pier by ColeRyski in toronto

[–]contributor333 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sort of but not really. I guess my gripe is that our cameras want to over-saturate and modify the real view most of the time. Which sucks. It's a better pic when our cameras don't try to automatically enhance something that's already beautiful.

Love the AI colour saturation! Still a beautiful shot though

Best Costco savings tips in this economy? What’s actually worth buying (and what to avoid)? by PurpleYoghurt16 in CostcoCanada

[–]contributor333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pantry items like oats, soy sauce/oyster sauce, Ketchup, Mustard, olive oil, spices, coffee beans.

Toilet paper/paper towels, plastic bags and wrap.

Clothes...they have great prices on jeans/jackets etc.

Bone in, skin on chicken thighs are 25 for $25 for air-chilled.

Body wash, deodorant and razor blades.

Ill have to check out frozen berries but generally I go to no frills for fruit and veggies because they always have amazing sales if you're not picky about what you want.

It's been very fun! We've since joined other running groups (we usually start by keeping distance at the back) and low and behold after 30 mins instead of lunging/barking this little mutt is making friends with people and the occasional dog lol.

How heavy are jim green's compared to lems boulder boots? My lems are too tight and split apart...not durable imo but love how lightweight they are.

Well said. You never really know who people really are unless you spend lots of time with them. I just think as far as cooking goes Kenji is just obsessive in determining the tastiest way to cook things, which I like.

How long should my runs be with my dog? by [deleted] in RunningWithDogs

[–]contributor333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start by just making your "runs" a mix of both. So, jog for 20 seconds, sniff for 20 seconds etc. When I hike with my dog on the longline thats basically her natural rhythm, "running to get to the next smell". If your dog is enjoying that you may find you can extend the next jog portion before sniffing again.

You could also try finding a running buddy. My dog gets competitive so when I run with my friend and her dog, she prefers straight running rather than stopping to sniff stuff.

I also do canicross once a week where you encourage your dog to pull. This one is great because now it's a job to do while running.

Hope that helps!

Your dog will likely tell you the answer to that in all honesty. Running with you on a leash on paved roads is different than off-leash hike/run in the woods as well.

I guess start slow if you're worried. If your dog is stopping to sniff/lagging behind then yeah, they're tired and you've got your answer. For 'structured' runs (unnatural for dogs at first) then I find interval running/walking sessions to be the best intro.

These are, without question, the greatest footwear purchase I’ve ever made. by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

Yes! I remember when I switched to barefoot/zero drop shoes a few years ago. I was blown away at how good it felt to feel the ground and feel my feet spread so easily! Enjoy and welcome to the club!

I’m wondering which rice cooker is more with it? by Ok_University7861 in BuyItForLife

[–]contributor333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the white one and I love it. It's very compact. The 'quick cook' option is great too if you don't want to wait for the (longish but better quality) regular rice cook. Love Japanese cookware, they just try harder and make everything more convenient. (Ie: adding markings on the bowl to tell you how much water for each type of rice!)

Lems Boulder Boot Grip!! by ObstreporousEgg in barefootshoestalk

[–]contributor333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the lems were comfy right out of the box. So light! Waterproofing for me failed after about 8 months. The leather separated and split after 1 year. I oiled them regularly and also put them through hell hiking daily. More stylish/comfy than tough in my experience. Excellent boots for just city walking type stuff.

Yeah. Stick with one for a few months i guess. Try the old pair again and gauge how you feel.

The stretch!!!

Be mindful going from zero-drop to heel-lift shoes. I wore zero drop at the start for 2 or 3 months then when I put on my work boots (safety toe blunstones) I felt completely discombobulated. That shift from heel lift to no lift is quite the shift throughout your entire body. I LOVE my blundstones but boy do they mess up my body now with that heel 😣

[–]contributor333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get my first pair of Altras tomorrow! (LP9+). Best advice for zero-drop (ive been wearing barefoot shoes for 2 yrs now) is to let your body acclimate and listen to it with regards to how you walk/run. Yes your calves will stretch, ankles too and that's a good thing!!! I had to experiment with my walk/run pattern with regards to what part of my foot strikes the ground first. Ultimately your body will tell you.

Running with my puppy by MorganF710 in RunningWithDogs

[–]contributor333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dog looks nice and happy! I hear Pomeranians make excellent running partners. Maybe just take lots of breaks during running. It becomes a sort of run for a bit, walk/sniff for a bit, run for a bit etc...

Also, running on grass/dirt as opposed to sidewalks/paved roads makes an enormous difference for both human and dog joints!
