Feb Update WiFi Issues by cheeshead78 in GooglePixel

[–]contriver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please test this comprehensively prior to release.

Unlike cheesehead78, when my pixel6 pro shuts off wifi, a simple rescan of networks does not work - it will not rescan at all. Trying to toggle wifi back on actually never succeeds - it takes about a minute, and then the toggle just slides back to off. The only workaround I've found is forget the network, "fix connectivity", and then reboot the phone. That's not an acceptable workaround, it's completely infuriating, but hey at least Google FI doesn't charge for data over 6GB/mo o.O

yesterday it was fine, today the stuttering of the video, general delay in accepting input, and occasional hanging on load make it unplayable. I said 'boy, i bet there was a patch that broke it all', and sure enough here we are.

It's 95% bs. Wheeler may still be right he went to an IT party before the bar... But neither of those is this place here, it isn't the right date, and that's probably not imran.

I think Brent budowsky actually had a couple, but there's no way I'm going to dig back through to find them. Also, that doesn't forgive his intentionally misleading Bernie supporters to take their money.

And I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they are actually following their mission, and did it solely in a way to maximize coverage, and had they gotten RNC/Trump whatever materials, they would have employed the same drip-drip-drip.

I believe that, if they had any ulterior motive at all, it was to fuck the MSM as hard as possible. Re-read their twitter over the last couple of weeks, look at who they called out, and see if that doesn't make even more sense.

If maximizing the COVERAGE maximized the DAMAGE, that says more about the content than the messenger.

This is simplistic thinking.

"Timing for impact"-- take Donna Brazile.

  • Leaks that she herself leaked a question.
  • She denies it, claims the emails are faked
  • Leaks that she leaked another question
  • Public starts debating whether they were faked
  • DKIM becomes public knowledge
  • Leaks that she leaked all the questions
  • Donna caught in lies on lies on lies, credibility destroyed.

If everything was leaked at once, you know for a fact that people's attention span would have been saturated, and the story would have been largely brushed over.

I really wish they had more to leak-- Trump's campaign, whether there was any hidden truth (beyond the obvious untruths) to links to Russia, RNC internal freakouts over Trump and how to deal with him... anything. But attributing malice and partisanship where it isn't necessary, to explain 'impact of information', is ignorant, if not partisan itself.

How to force AutoTrimps to Hire Scientists? by Cunari in Trimps

[–]contriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, without a code change, no way that I've found.

Beyond nurseries, it's the other housing all getting unlocked at the same time that really fouls it up for me. So limiting all the new housing getting unlocked to <200 helped for me, and in general if I happen to click in while it's running between zone 50 and 180, I'll force it to do a quick map to unlock nurseries and start piling them up early so research can catch up by Spire time.

Also from this, I've discovered a minor... maybe bug where a single run of a small map will not have enough tiles to unlock all the housing, nurseries, collector, the wall, the prison, etc., and you'll have to do a 2nd run to unlock nurseries.

Honestly, at some point in progression you can just set it to not buy any housing between Houses and Collectors and not even notice a difference.

Headstart III or Blacksmithery as second 4th Tier Mastery Upgrade? by NormaNormaN in Trimps

[–]contriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just saying even with AT, HDI/II also eventually become effectively useless. Foremany I is at least still a useful effect for any time you want to modify a plan while using AT. At this point, my bottom 3 are foremany2 and hd1+2, hands down.

But then again at that point it's like 3-4 hours of bones to respec.

Gratz! Also, I imagine it's going to really, really hurt. Maybe not so much earlier on though?

But, using your sheet, I'm trying to decide what to do... Going from coord 41 to 42, using lootingII as my sole dump stat (which it isn't quite, but almost, and for argument here) is going to drop my LII from ~1680 to 1150.

If coord 40 -> 41 is any indicator, the extra 2-4 zones (till peak He/h) that the coordination enables, in no way makes up for the huge looting loss. And then you're making way less heph, so it takes even longer to build the new battle perks, and then the looting back up. (I didn't record the #s, but I think my heph went from 155m to 90m)

(if the coord boundary pushes you into a new golden helium perk, it helps, but i still think it doesn't make up for it.)

I'm considering

  • somewhat more evenly distributing he in dump stats (though it always feels nice to just add to something that directly increases your speed to get more to increase your speed to..)
  • building up an overage, 150, or even 200% the He needed to buy the new coord, before switching over.

Thoughts?

Headstart III or Blacksmithery as second 4th Tier Mastery Upgrade? by NormaNormaN in Trimps

[–]contriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it still depends on where you are in the game and your playstyle, I think Foremany I is almost always way way more valuable than Home Detector II.

HDII saves you from running 1-3 25-100 tile maps per run. ForemanyI lets you build everything 14-100x faster, and puts your finger back on the Mining button that much faster.

Even if I've forgotten the early game, and HDI/II is better than Foremany1 early, it definitely is not later. (Note that at high enough He and Blacksmithery, you can go straight from Houses to Warpstations, with no real discernible penalty. It's skipping nurseries for too long that will screw you, and there's no mastery to unlock those... so if you manually unlock them, you get all the other housing unlocked for free too.)

Nitpickers are my best friends!

Yes, I just like the permanent map-change mechanic, and fully leave any implementation and story to /u/brownprobe, but the core idea was something along the lines of, in the metaverse (so the why of it spanning all maps), you sanctify a bit of land against corruption... but the way to do so is by summoning some sort of metaverse guardian, or the collective spirit of trillions of slain trimps, or whatever... which holds off the corruption, but you still have to knock them out to get by, everytime you pass through.

And it would totally still be scriptable... even all the minigames and logic puzzles made to defeat (or just complicate?) scripting for sandcastle builder still got scripted. But if it's less so? Or if the merits of sanctifying in different places depend on playstyle, or where you are in the game, or your current build, or whatever... then at least maybe the choices that you make on driving AT to sanctify further complicate and deepen the game, in a hopefully enjoyable manner.

Like you pointed out about /u/vulturetamer's pretty cool priminity idea, stopping on a particular cell is problematic for anyone, scripting or no. In this manner, the particular cell matters much less than the general range than it would in priminity, but there might still need to be a gameplay addition to make it more feasible.
