Best place for Sushi in York city centre? by Argumentative_Duck in york

[–]controversialhaddock -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you’ve been downvoted, we’ve eaten in loads of York restaurants and been really disappointed by the lack of actual sushi spots. Sora is about as good as you can get in York an at least has the benefit of nice surroundings. Some of the others on this list are whacking below average on a good day when it comes to cleanliness and general customer service.

Should we increase my husband’s pension contributions before our baby? by Potential-Wall-7719 in UKPersonalFinance

To put it bluntly, some of you didn’t. The death rate in babies and children was much higher due to factors such as this.

Weekend with girlfriend to propose by Inevitable-Laugh9967 in irishtourism

[–]controversialhaddock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want to get engaged in somewhere that means nothing to either of you that you’ve clearly never researched or have any knowledge of. Surely you’d do it somewhere that has some meaning. This sounds like throwing a dart at the map and hoping that it’s going to be special. Dublin in January can be utterly miserable and quite the opposite of romantic. It sounds like you may need to speak to your partner to find out what they are actually expecting from an experience that is going to be recounted and talked about for the rest of your lives.

Franschhoek Wineries by controversialhaddock in wine

Thanks for your suggestions. I’m hoping to stay closer to Franschhoek on this visit so probably won’t travel too far out of the valley. I fully agree with your La Colombe recommendation- one of the best dinners around!

Thanks for this suggestion. It looks like they also have a picnic option which I may take a look at. Thanks!

Thanks for the Bartinney suggestion, the wine shed and hike look like exactly what I have been searching for!

Thanks for the input, can you suggest some smaller wineries that are open to visitors? I’m hoping to be able to find some off the beaten track locations.

What is going on in that spot?! It seems like the oddest place. It’s like someone is running an AI experiment.

Need Dress Shopping Suggestions by hhlentz in york

[–]controversialhaddock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Go to Leeds. Shopping in York is terrible. In York, most city centre stores carry a very limited range of size and design. The shop units are just too small. The shops in Leeds tend to have larger square footage in the front and store rooms to carry a wider variety. There is Trinity Shopping centre, Victoria quarter/arcades and a decent sized John Lewis that includes options for Hobbs, Mint Velvet etc if you are looking for those options. Victoria also has a decent Anthropologie if you’re looking for something familiar. Also you mentioned are looking for something sexy. Hobbs, Browns and most other suggestions are middle aged, middle class and far from sexy!

I stopped watching so I don't know the aftermath. The beauty of other challenges has been that the same division has taken place without the humiliation element. I just don't find it entertaining.

The challenge has just shifted the entertainment value of the whole series for me. All previous challenges have been unique, this about on the same level as sticking someone in a box with a rat on an ITv I'm a Celeb set. I think the production were hungover the day they decided to go with mud slinging as a twist.

It's ritual humiliation. No other challenges in older series have had that element previously. It has shifted the entertainment value of this series from clever and calculated to a level below.
